I just don't answer the door...... :thumbs2:

Of course I'm usually sitting in my garage, with the door open, poking through this forum..... :patriot:

On the rare occasions the doorbell is rung, I'm armed and prepared. :coolgleamA:

If you knock on my door I dont answer, instead theres 2 glocks facing the door. No one comes by without calling me, if I dont know your coming by its best you just find someone else to harrase. The better half thought I was crazy for awhile, I just leave up a few of the crime blogs so she can see the world isnt pefect and shes starting to see things my way.

I don't know why more people don't do this. I installed it one camera at a time as I could afford it. Four channel DVR and a decent video monitor and your good to go. You don't have to be an electronics wizard to do this.
:iagree:
We have one camera just for the front door. Not a bad neighborhood but it's better to be safe especially with our kids

who always want to run and answer the doorbell.

They are pretty good about looking at the monitor to see who it is first...

If someone is knocking on my door, my wife will ask me if I have my gun with me before I go check out who is it. :thumbs2:

It's not being paranoid if there really are people out to get you, and the sad truth of todays time is that a delivery guy at the door might not really be a delivery guy. I feel as though I must be able to reasonably prepared to protect my self at all times.

You only answer the door with one gun? J/K I answer the door with my gun, but that's because I carry my gun while I'm at home. The only place I don't carry is at work because it's illegal to bring a firearm into a prison. Working on getting a new job atm. When I wake up I put my gun on. When I shower it is hanging in a cabinet that can be reached from the shower. When I sleep it is on the nightstand.

The only time I'm unarmed is if I'm swimming. Which really sucks because I love swimming but I hate being unarmed.

You are being prepared, not paranoid. Like some have said, i just dont answer the door. If i am expecting someone, i will have received a call earlier to let me know. Otherwise, you can knock but i wont answer. My dad gave me a hard time once when a lady knocked and i didnt open it. He said, it just a lady probably asking for directions. I said, well she has a cell phone in her hand, she can call a friend for directions. Or she can my a gps unit and never be lost.

Sidearm by my side as close to 24/7 as possible, even at home.

Having said that, practically nobody (certainly nobody that doesn't know the code) gets to our door because of the gate at the street so we don't answer the door often. Since we have a driveway annunciator outside the gate, we are forewarned if anyone approaches that entrance.

As I read through this thread numerous post described exactly what I do if someone knocks on my door. We have cameras that sound off about two seconds before someone gets to the door. If I don't recognize them I don't answer. If its the FedEx/ UPS/ USPS I answer but I'm armed. Good to read the posts of so many like minded individuals.

It's extremely rare that anyone comes here that has not contacted us earlier. We know the UPS, FedEx people. We have 2 separate driveway alarm systems plus video surveillance here. My SA is always with me, either holstered or within arm's reach. My wife always has her's within arm's reach/or quick access. Living in the country on a major highway, there are a lot of potential BG/BG's out there, especially druggies. We also have two dogs... :) Unless we have real emergency, one of us is here 24/7.

IF, by chance a stranger comes that we don't see/hear first and knocks on our door (office or other places), I never stand broadside in front of the door...I take lessons from LEOs on this...the BGs tend to shoot the middle of the door...lol.

Sounds normal to me, I'm not full of paranoia, I'm prepared. Taking the days gun from the quick draw safe and placing in the OBW holster for the day, is to me no more of an event then shaving and brushing my teeth each morning.

I've actually determined that I need more handguns, simply because I have many places I want to keep one handy around the house, in bug-out bags, etc, but not enough guns to fill the list of places...

.. I wonder if the wife will buy that excuse. :smilelol5: "rlol"
