Re: San Antonio get together
Sounds like we have enough interest, especially if we make it in June and try for somewhere between the two cities. The ranges I know of that are between the two are in Lockhart and New Braunfels. I might include Bracken on the far north side of San Antonio as in between, but then I guess we should put Red's on the south side of Austin in there to be fair.
Any other ranges that people know of that are easy drives from both cities?

I second for Lone Star in Lochhart also. It's a great place I think this crowd would appreciate. And the bbq is nearby. Count me in.

Whoa.. wait.. no one is coming if you're gonna show up. Unless you bring brisket and jerky for everyone.. those are our terms..Jasonw560 wrote:I might be able to, dependng on when it is. We ty to get up there once a month or so. Keep me posted. I can try diffrent guns!!!

I'm in. Have a year's pass at Lone Star so the price is something I can afford. Mrs. RiverRat has a new Henry .22 lever gun we haven't tried out .

Lone Star could work for me. Its only about 2 hours from Temple, so thats doable.

There's Bexar Community on the east side of SA but it's on I10 so not actually in between.srothstein wrote:Sounds like we have enough interest, especially if we make it in June and try for somewhere between the two cities. Don't go to bracken they charge BY THE GUN There is one out in Bulverde called Cedar ridge range. They are really good, like 12 per person, as many guns as you can bring. They also have a setup where you can do obstacle courses and such as well.

Re: San Antonio get together
Thanks, I had forgotten about Bracken's per gun charge. Cedar Ridge does sound good too.
So far, the most votes seem to be for Lone Star in Lockhart. I know that may be a little far to drive for some in west San Antonio or North Austin though.
Does anyone really prefer someplace else or should we assume Lone Star and start picking a date?

Yes I am interested too. I will bring my daughter too since she's been bugging me about shooting her Ruger .22 again. BBQ sounds good. OK with Lockhart too but since it is a bit far for us (from Round Rock) we probably won't make it if the meeting is too early in the morning.
Re: San Antonio get together
Plan it, announce it. people will come or not.
Food/fellowship it enough, I shoot with people I already know and shooting's not a great way to get to know peple compared to sitting down and eating.
When?

Lone Star sounds like a winner, as does Cedar Ridge. What are we looking at calendar-wise? I'm guessing a Saturday? I'm in if the schedule is right - and I might drag the fam along, too.

I'm feelin' the love. I guess I could gomup there, drive all the way to Castroville and stop at Dzuik's, get jerky, then get brisket while in Lockhart, and then charge you for the gas I used. Since they're your conditions.68Charger wrote:Whoa.. wait.. no one is coming if you're gonna show up. Re: San Antonio get together
I have shot at both and both are good. Not sure on logistics of either for a large crowd. The shooting "bays" at Bracken (used for IDPA etc) are a bit narrow compared to the slightly wider bays at Austin Rifle Club (where I usually shoot IDPA) and the ridiculously large bays at Best of the West in Liberty Hill. Haven't been to Lone Star in more than a year, but seem to remember its pistol bay - while being the standard "stand here behind this bench and don't move forward" set up - is wide enough for 10-plus shooters at one time (assuming we could somehow get all the shooting positions at once).srothstein wrote:Thanks, I had forgotten about Bracken's per gun charge. Either one I think will work and I'd attend at either if I"m available on the chosen day.
Lockhart DOES have the better barbecue, however. And I still have not been to the new Kreuz's BBQ (keep going back to the old one, now called "Smitty's"
