Arlington Man Loses Gun License Due To Blog
Not that Arlington.....
This dummy is in Arlington Massachusetts.
From Boston CBS article:
“We certainly take this as a credible threat, and credible until we prove otherwise,” said Arlington police Captain Robert Bongiorno.
In his blog Corcoran writes, “It is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable to shoot indiscriminately. Target only politicians and their staff and leave regular citizens alone."

I'm not saying that this guy's words could not have been a tad more discreet, but this is a clear example of why gun control is evil — they can take away your guns for expressing certain political speech. That is fundamentally un-American.

Especially if he meant it tongue-in-cheek, which of course is hard to discern one way or the other online or in text.

Sounds like a bad joke gone awry and this one bit him. That is a good lesson to learn about posting on blogs and even here on the forum. The search crawlers pick this stuff up quickly and everyone can see it within a short time by searching. Once it is in the search engine and cached there, it is there for an eternity. This forum is picked up quickly by the crawlers, so bottom line, if you don't want the world to be able to see it, then don't post it here or anywhere on the Interweb.

Re: Arlington Man Loses Gun License Due To Blog
I am betting it is a tongue-in-cheek comment.
When a music "artist" makes threats to kill cops in a song do we take away their right to publish another album? How about a "church" in Kansas that praises the death of our soldiers? Are they still allowed to operate?
Just asking...........................

King George tried to disarm political dissidents. That's why we have the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights. The Annoyed Man wrote:I'm not saying that this guy's words could not have been a tad more discreet, but this is a clear example of why gun control is evil — they can take away your guns for expressing certain political speech. I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

How about Hollywood who always portrait cop killing vilains as heros? We must ban them too.i8godzilla wrote:I am betting it is a tongue-in-cheek comment.

Ironically, Arlington is minutes from Lexington and Concord.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

Power corrupts. The current MA regime would have disarmed the Minutemen.

The reponsibilty of carrying a firearm is serious enough that we have to weigh what we say very carefully. What most would perceive as idle venting or morbid humor turns into a perceived threat when a firearm is attached. Not saying it's right, just that's the way it is. I would hope that after an investigation determines that no threat was intended, he can re-gain his license, and come away from this incident somewhat wiser. We encounter the same type of issue sensitivity regarding bomb jokes at airports these days. We need to consider carefully how others will interpret our remarks and adjust our words accordingly. I'm not saying we shouldn't speak, just think about how we say it.TxD wrote:Not that Arlington.....

If he had simply included one of these:

He still does have his rights, the Police Captain is just too dense to recognize them.bartkatz wrote:If he had simply included one of these:, he might still have all his rights.
