That does not necessarily mean that more guns known to be on a particular property or person (micro level) the less likely they are to have crimes perpetrated against them. Someone started a thread here the other day about all of his reloading supplies and bullets being stolen. They aren't scared of guns they know about. If they know where a gun is, they can control it easier. They're scared of guns they'll be surprised by.

I have seen too many cases of someone who eventually was found justified, get really bloody in the investigation because of their macho attitude or bravado prior to or after the shoot. Take the Joe Horn case for instance. While he was eventually found justified, he received a ton of bad press and skepticism because of the statements he was making to the 911 dispatcher prior to the shoot. Had he been less vocal and less bold he would have not had near the negative attention on him while the investigation was in progress.

if I have ever read a post with more truth, I don't remember it. I always believed that Joe Horn shot off his mouth way more than he should. Bernard Getze made the same mistake. It is always best to be humble about ones abilities or capabilities ;-) .

Maybe in the future people will learn from Joe's mistake and shoot the burglars first. Call 911 to clean up the mess.

And call an attorney before speaking to the police. This would be an occasion where having an attorney in advance would be a real asset.

Not only are there no signs, but very few LEOs let people know where they live. Most keep their phone number unlisted/unpublished to help keep it secret. And most government records that have home addresses (like property tax and city/state employment) are considered confidential and not open records if the person is a peace officer or judge.

However, quite a few LEOs drive their squad cars home and park them right out in front!

Which would you prefer, an unlisted phone number or a company car?

Carrying a badge is not impersonating a cop. If it was, thousands of security guards would be in jail. The way I read Texas Occupations Code, chapter 1702, if it's legal for security guards to wear badges, then it's legal for us as long as we don't use any of the restricted words.

How so? We're not security guards and carrying a CHL is not an occupation. I fail to see the link between the two...

Here's the part you missed.

No, no I didn't. I understand them to be covered by Texas Occupations Code, chapter 1702 (specifically, §1702.323, Section (d)). What I fail to see is how that correlates to CHL's? It is not impersonation as a security guard is covered under this statute. Are CHL licensees (who are not sec. guards) somehow covered under this? I don't think so...

To somehow tie this to CHL licensees is the point I am missing. How does the fact private security can carry under 1702 tie in to CHL's?

It's been said:
In Germany, that which is not permitted is prohibited.
In America, that which is not prohibited is permitted.
In Italy, even that which is prohibited is permitted.

I actually had a CHL instructor encourage the use of a CHL badge to a class. That was when I stopped paying attention.

Was that before or after the instructor taught about signs? "rlol"
