Had problems at the range today

From your statement, I would agree that the mag not being seated is most likely your problem and your next trip to the range will go much better.

I realize that Mec-Gar is making Sig factory magazines and from most of what I've read and heard, that's when the problems started. Until a few years ago I never heard of a Sig jamming. Sigarms said it was farmed out because they couldn't keep up with demand. I have only Sig magazines for my Sigs but I had 2 Mec-gar mags for my Beretta 92 and they were definetely unsatisfactory and are in a landfil now. They said Mec-Gar on them, not Beretta so I don't know when they were made. I have 4 Beretta mags now (may be Mec-Gar's for all I know) and I have not had even one malfunction from any of them. I know Pro-mags and USA's and such are worthless so Mec-Gar may be the only real option.

Also, if you insert the full magazine with the slide already locked back it should be much easier to get fully inserted.

I had the same problem with my P226 when I first got it. The mags load fine with the action open. The force required to load a full mag with the action closed is more than most would think.

I started to load my mags 1 round short when I was doing IDPA. I was primarily doing reloads with a closed action, and was having issues not fully seating the mag before continuing (resulting in a misfeed). Reducing the round count by 1 solved this issue completely. As the gun and mags broke in, this issue went away (or maybe I just adjusted to the issue with practice...not sure).

driver8, the Mec-Gar mags I bought have SigArms stamped on them, and Sig confirmed that they are factory mags.

As a general rule i never load a new magazine full. Stick to 10 round strings, then progress up to 15. After about 200 or so rounds the springs will loosen up enough. Now, if your getting issues with only 10 in the magazine, seperate that magazine from the others and see if problems continue. It may be a bad magazine.

And I said it before, and i'll say it again, just 'cause it's a SIG don't mean you won't have issues, so it could be the gun.
