I've never really considered a shoulder rig for concealed carry...Never really felt the need for one...

It doesn't appear to be a big leap for me to find one that'll work...

I'd like to see some of the folks coming to the PSC day bring the gear...Show it off a bit at the fashion show, and give us heathin's something to look at...

Since I am getting to be "more" respectable in my wardrobe, I'd like to elevate my carry method to include a shoulder rig in the near future...

One thing though...

Is it easier to use a rig that counter balances the weapons side, by putting an integrated magazine pouch(s) on the other side???

Or, I stand to be corrected if I am wrong...

I believe I have seen some rigs that have loops and or snaps that work with a belt or other garment to secure and keep the shoulder rig (gun side) balanced and retained in a consistant position, without a magazine counter-balance method???

If anything I think I have seen that comfort is right up there at the top with functionality more so than with the belt holster industry...

Maybe by Sunday, I'll be a convert...

The advice I have seen (and agree with - in my limited experience with them) is that you should get both if you can. Gun on one side, double mag pouch on the other. Tie downs if you can. And one Jackass that I have borrowed to feel out had double mag pouch + cuff case on the off side and it was still heavier on the 1911 side than the off side. YMMV

Agreed,

I have tie downs for my rig but never use them. A couple of mags. on the opposite side (or a mag. and flashlight) will offer enough counterweight to keep things in place...and still be comfortable.

The weight does not have to be equal because there is no pivot point, its not like balancing a set of scales. The holster straps distribute the weight pretty well and provide enough friction to keep things from moving around very much.

I suppose you could wear tie downs...but they make you feel tethered to your belt IMO.

A "Good" quality shoulder rig properly adjusted just doesn't move around much.

Wouldn't balance be better with two 1911's?

But then which one would be your primary piece and which one would be your backup? Would you really want one of your 1911s to be neglected by putting it on the off side?

Alternate them every other day if you have 2. For you guys that have 7 that would be one days work & 6 days rest for each.
