Had the same idea with my little Jiminez. Problem is, the metal's so soft that with a buffing wheel and some light rouge, I was cutting metal instead of polishing.

The Walther PPK that I bought last year at The Gun Store in Weatherford, TX. Took it to the range and put about 200 rounds through it, it FTF'ed and FTE'd at least once in every 6rnd magazine. Sent it off to S&W March, 2009, got it back January, 2010, and it still FTF's and FTE's just as bad as before. I'm hesitant to sell a gun as bad as this to any unsuspecting person, but I probably will someday - so watch out!!! Don't ever buy a Walther anything!!! (At least one that's made by S&W America).

I have to tell you that my Kahr PM9 is now my most reliable carry; I have put over a thousand rounds through it with nary a FTF/FTE. I think yours may be a previous generation; bought mine about a year ago (summer 2009), and haven't had a problem with it, except for one FTF at about the first 150th round that went through it - after that, I've put hundreds of rounds (target, +P, all brands) through it without a hiccup. I trust this gun.

Worst gun I ever had was a Maverick 88 12 gauge with an 18" barrel. It wouldn't fire 3 of 5 times. Had it fixed then it wouldn't fire 1 out of 5. Traded it off and bought a Mossberg 500 that works every time.

I don't believe S&W America makes any Walther firearms. They only provide the USA warranty service to Walther firearms. Did you know that Walther/S&W recalled the PPK last year? I don't own a PPK, so not sure of the details, but perhaps that could explain the problems you had? Just saying.

I do own a Walther PPS and have been impressed with it. Though, in interests of full disclosure, I am awaiting a replacement from S&W for a small polymer part that broke (gun still functions even with the broken part).

All that said, if you want to dump your PPK, I might be interested. How does $200 cash FTF sound?

I'm glad yours works - mine certainly didn't. Premature slide lock, failure to go into battery, trigger pin walking out . . . but the worst - in my opinion - is that occasionally the trigger failed to engage the striker; after several pulls the pistol MIGHT eventually go off. (Since my P9 did NOT have second strike capability, this wasn't a case of trying to fire a dud round repeatedly; it's just that trigger motion would not reliably actuate the striker.)

Shot mostly WWB, but tried Remington, Federal, and Speer ammo of various flavors. No joy.

Pity . . . the gun WAS a neat little package, and was a pleasure to shoot during those rare intervals when it worked.

Mine was a S&W 686 .357mag. I bought it "new" from a gun store in Waco, and it had light primer strikes and Fail to fires 50% of the time. Got it sent back to S&W and essentially they told me the gun was well used and abused, so they replaced the yoke, all the springs, and some of the internals, and now it's worked ever since. Though I still don't trust it...

Numerous failure to feeds, bad mag that was replaced by the factory at no charge that contributed to some of the FTF's but not all, mag release positioned so that I would press the release while firing. I did like the Heine Straight 8 sights after getting used to them. Traded it in for my Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II.

What was wrong with the XD ?

One issue with firing failure and one issue with mag release. My Glocks, subjected to the exact same conditions have never failed me.

To be honest, my Kimber Ultra Carry is on the cusp as well. I keep having issues on not going back into battery.

I accidentally hit the release twice, the very first time I put a magazine through mine. 200 rounds later, I had taught myself to shoot it with my thumb resting on the safety. At least the mag never popped out in the holster.

Heresy, heresy, heresy!!!!! A KIMBER that's not perfect! Heresy, heresy, heresy!!!!! You are going to raise the ire of all the Kimberites.

Seriously, if it's mechanical there can be a lemon in the basket and to say that because it's a Kimber, Toyota, Dillon, et al there cannot be a problem with it is ludicrous. The true test is how well the manufacturer responds to the problem.
