First off I want to thank SRVA, CompVest, and all the shooters of Thunder Range IDPA. They are terrific people and gracious hosts.
Several months ago I was invited to go out to Thunder Range by SRVA and either participate or just watch. Last night I finally took him up on the invite.
I am glad that I did. What an experience. It sure beats standing at the firing line a shooting a black circle. Not that there is anything wrong with that either. And, I didn't even shoot. I decided to just watch. Soon I will participate.
SRVA really knows how to teach. He has a way of explaining things. He make understanding the sport very easy. Not that I understand it yet. But I know more now than I did at 5:00pm yesterday.
SRVA and all the shooters really make you feel like part of the group. It didn't matter how fast you shot the course or how accurate. It was all about having fun. They had a way of taking it seriously without taking it seriously, if that makes sense. One could learn alot just from watching.
Now I am begging the wife for some gear. I figgure to start I just need a good holster (prefer an OWB for this type of shooting), a magazine carrier, and at least one more magazine. I already have ammo. I was so pupmed I loaded 500 rounds last night. :D Heck I'll probably load another 500 tomorrow. Then I'll be out of bullets and have to beg for more of those.
Again, thanks to all the shooters of Thunder IDPA for a terrific experience.
Anyone have a decent used OWB holster for a full size 1911 that they want to get rid of CHEAP? please no thumb breaks, Uncle mikes, or Fubus crap. Have one of those and it sucks. Leather or good kydex wil work.
First IDPA event last night
