Maybe we hang out at different places, but I've never seen anyone ridiculed for not carrying 24/7. I've seen quiet, rational explanations of why it's a good idea, but never ridicule.

I have seen plenty of ridicule going the other way, though. Not necessarily from people who carry part-time, but from people who don't carry at all. "What do you think you're going to need a gun for?" is a common response from those who don't understand.

So, I don't ridicule anyone for their carry choices. Neither do I wish to be ridiculed.

RexB has not been here very long so he does not yet know how gracious everyone here is. Probably heard some of that on another forum.
Be sure Rex, we are glad to have you & I promice, you can ask the simplest question from a new carryer to any of the old hands on this forum & you will receive help & encouragement.
Welcome aboard.

I've never been ridiculed here for not carrying 24/7. It's actually illegal for me to do so at work, since I'm a teacher. I would really like to carry there, but those are our laws currently. I would love to see them changed.
If I can legally carry somewhere, I do. That's what gets some people's drawers in a knot.
I have never needed it before, and I doubt I will. But many people that need to use their guns tend to use them at a time they weren't expecting to do so.
(If I ever knew I NEEDED my gun, I would just avoid the situation.)

I don't think the rape victim in the OP's article thought she would need one the day she was raped, but I really wish she would have had one and would have been able to use it.
"If a man breaks in your house, he ain't there for iced tea." Mom & Dad.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
