TSRA Seminars

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I am going to schedule the Texas Self-Defense & Deadly Force Laws Seminar for several locations around the State in the coming weeks. Many TexasCHLforum members have expressed an interest in having this seminar offered in their areas and now I need your help to make this happen.

If you are a member of a club or organization that would like to host a seminar and can help get the word out in your area, please let me know. The locations need to be somewhat centrally located in your region so we can draw people from a reasonable driving distance. If necessary, TSRA will rent a conference room, but my first choice would be to use a facility donated by an interested party, club or company. Obviously, the location may have to change depending upon the response, but we can deal with that later.

The next seminar I plan to "take on the road" is the Ladies Self-Defense Informational Seminar that deals with issues of special interest to women. It also goes into the various types of training available, the topics and skills covered, and the cost of various levels of schools and courses. I have given this seminar only in the Houston area and it too has been very popular.

There will no fee for the TSRA seminars and workshops that will be offered as part of new programs we are instituting at TSRA. Obviously, we have two goals for bring these events to our fellow Texans. First, we want to make this information available. Secondly, we want to use them as a recruiting effort to grow TSRA in terms of members and money. When spreading the word about a seminar in your area, please encourage your friends to come and to join TSRA. We need the two "M's" that are so important in Austin; members and money!

Let me hear from you folks. We now have the opportunity to do something all of us have wanted for a long time.

So, where do we get information regarding the "what", "where" and "when"?

I'm very interested in taking this course in Houston when it's available. :thumbs2:

Seconding this. Will the schedule be posted in this thread when it is available?

If it is at all possible (in terms of timing and location) my wife and I would certainly be interested in attending one.

We live in League City so anywhere close to Houston is 'doable' for us. :tiphat:

I'll try to get a date set in the Houston area in the next few weeks. Then we'll probably be going to Fort Worth, then either west to El Paso or south the Brownsville. We also need to go to East Texas, perhaps in the Lufkin area.

This is an unsolicited endorsement.

Folks, if you have the opportunity, please attend this seminar.

I've heard Charles present this three times over the past several years, and I'll be the first in line for a Houston session.

I can't think of anyone more expert to talk about this subject.

I am in the Fort Worth area and would be very interested in attending this seminar. Unfortunately, I would be much help in securing a location, although I would be willing to assist in any way possible.

Don't forget Austin.

I drove down to Friendswood to attend one of Charles' seminars and found it VERY informative. Take lots of notes or you will forget lots of the details. I am hoping to go again with my daughters who will soon be getting their CHL's.

Charles, do you have any issue with the sponsor for a seminar charging an entry fee or do you want the whole thing to be at no cost to those attending?

What would be the minimum group size or seating capacity? Ball park figure.

May I please put in a mention for the Panhandle? I'd be happy to see what interest there is, if there's any realistic possibility of a seminar in, say, Amarillo.

We are going to make all of these seminars fee, unless we have to pay for the meeting room. Then we'll set the fee at a rate that will cover the conference room only. This is why the TSRA Regional Directors will be working hard to get free venues.
