We think alike Chuck! I'd even consider a Five-Seven since I ALWAYS see stacks of that ammo everywhere I go. Judging by that, I'm guessing pretty much no one in Texas owns that gun!
According to current news reports, there is at least one owner of a 5.7 in Texas.

I have a ridiculous amount of ammo in every caliber I shoot but I did not start out hoarding ammo. I just kept buying it by the case when I would see a good deal on it. Then low and behold...Premier Obama got elected and everyone and their dog started buying up ammo. I picked up a few more cases here and there as the anticipation of the socialist regime taking over reached a fever pitch. Poof... i now have more ammo than I can count and thank goodness I got lucky. I love to shoot and shoot at least once a week. There is no way I could have continued my shooting hobby at today's...or yesterdays :biggrinjester: prices. I don't really see myself as a Bogart...I just got lucky in my stocking situation.

I just went to a couple ammo sights I used to buy from. They are all still price gouging. Ammo Man, for instance, is selling his stock for almost double the price I was paying him a few short months before the socialist party moved into the White House. Ammo Man used to be cheaper than Wal-Mart which is why I bought so much ammo from him. Now he makes them look like they are giving ammo away. This thread had me hoping common sense was back. Nope...not yet.

Heard that on the news today right after I posted my last comment. It's becoming pretty obvious that he wasn't just a "crazy person". :???:

I dont know if its over, or folks are just 'stocked up', but I have noticed that some calibers are getting easier to find. I see plenty of .45 and .223 on the shelves, and the price has come down just a bit. Some calibers like .380 are still AWOL. I cant figure that one out. Sure, .380s are great concealed carry guns, but why there should be such a demand for them is beyond me. The only thing I can figure is that with the rush for CHLs most new plastic holders are carrying them. I sold my trusty Bersa Thunder right before the election and the ammo shortage. I included the 100 rounds I had for it with the gun. I work with the person I sold it to, and she asked me to keep an eye out for some, but I havent seen any in the last 6 months.

I guess we can say its over when we can go to Wally World and buy a box of .380 again.

Ive got a guy that reloads for me, so as long as folks keep leaving their brass in the grass at the range, Im golden. Every once in a while, I even find some .380 brass. On those days, I get Lotto tickets!

The gun show in Dallas had tons of .223, .303 and other rifle rounds, not giving them away though. Even the reloads were limited. I wonder what the deal is there? Handgun loads were more reasonable than the last few months but not good enough for me to buy any today. I didn't see too many others buying up anything either.

Its been over a year since I bought any quantity of ammo, I have been eating my reserves since the election. Sadly those reserves are nearly gone and I can find almost everything I need at reasonable prices except .308 and .45 ACP. Locally 223 has never been a problem to find, 6.8 I can get as I need, .40 is in stock every time I go to Walmart, Saw an entire case of Federal .22LR Bulk pack on the floor waiting to be stocked, .22-250 is present in spades, I have even seen 338 Marlin Express in quantity, but no .45 ACP below $35/box of 50 and no quality .308 to be seen.

I found my first box of small pistol primers in months at Cabela's yesterday morning. They had only one box of 1000, and the guy there was surprised to see them.

FWIW, I just took a gander (1130 hrs today) at the Ammo counter in the Jacksonville Wal-Mart. It appears that everything except .380 acp was in attendance...in small quantities. Furthermore, if there was any increase in ammo price since the election it was minimal.
