Thinking of getting a small Semi-Auto in 9mm
Any Ideas?

Get the one you like. Other than that, its six of one, half-dozen of the other.

:iagree: Get the one that fits best in your hand. All of those choices are quality made guns.

I have a XD .45. Works great! I got it originally because it felt great in my hand when I first picked it up. So I have to also say, get the one that feels best!

All the above is the right answer and one of the best places to find that answer is at a gun show. Gun shows are the best places to find and handle just about every choice out there.
The bigger the show the bigger your choices.

Great initial choices. Depending on how small you want, put Walther PPS on your list. I'm very happy with mine. Very similar in operation to my Glock, but significantly thinner.

:iagree: +1 on the gun show. Handle every gun that fits your price range and caliber choice. Compile a list of the top 3 or 4 that you like and then do a little research. Go to your local gun store and ask them, check out other boards and/or forums, even see if your local gun range will let you rent one. You can do a google search for (gun-x) forum for whichever gun you want and you are sure to find some information. After that, you can find the best price for the gun you want.

Stay safe and happy shooting. :fire

I agree on going to a gun show and trying out all the options.

I would also consider the S&W M&P pistols. They are good reliable pistols.

I STRONGLY agree with the gunshow. Thats how I found my XD. Never heard of it before I held it.

While you are there you should try a 1911 or two or twenty-two.

I agree with everything except looking at those in your price range. I think you should at everything. This way you will have a good idea of your favorite fit options. Even those that aren't in your price range are worth knowing about as you might run across a deal or decide to save pennies until you can afford it.

Don't leave the Taurus 24/7 compact out of the mix! great shooter, 17 rounds +1. For a pocket carry, try the Taurus 709. The ones you name are good, reliable weapons, but so are these taurus's at a lower cost. http://www.taurususa.com/product-detail ... umbseries=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm gonna agree with all the above, especially the part of trying before you buy. If your range doesn't rent, look around to find one in your area that does. Spending 50 bucks in gas beats spending a couple hundred for a gun only to find out once you start putting rounds down the pipe that it's not the one for you. :fire

Also get to know shooters at your favorite range as most will let you try their guns.
