This board had been up for 5 & half months when I joined. Charles has said many times he has been very awed at the way God has blessed this board w/ members, knowledge, wisdom & experience in every area of life.
This Texas focused board rivals many National boards in daily participation & growth rate. In just under 5yrs we have 5700+ members. The board was started Christmas of 2004. By this Christmas I believe we will have over 6000.
It is w/o real rival in quality information and I do not know any other fireams related board in the nation that has the female participation that we do.
There is no doubt in my mind the success of TexasCHLforum is due to the high standards of conduct & language that Charles established in the beginning & has stuck to over the yrs..

Charles really does thank you all for your participation here.

From this humble forum member, I can say that we are all sincerely appreciative of the opportunity this forum provides for us. The efforts of Mr. Cotton and all of the moderators are certainly noteworthy, and the information found here is truly beneficial in all respects.

The CHL class is a good class, and reading the law thoroughly is good as well, but the opportunity to flesh out all the questions, to discuss all the possible situations, and give/receive advice freely without being ostrasized is tremendous.

If there is ever a TexasCHLforum party in DFW, count me in. I'll be the guy on the red harley in a Sponge Bob shirt concealing a Beretta. Hopefully you can only spot two of the three.....

It would be remiss if I failed to mention the quality of the humor as well. Its really great to associate with folks that understand that true humor does not have to originate below the belt.

i will confess . i went to the dark side once . :cryin
i signed up on another forum .

but , it was a national forum , with many times more members than this one . and that's what i didn't like about it .
since there were people from all over the US , i didn't feel a sense of closeness like this forum provides .
after all , we're all Texans and it doesn't get much better than that .

I never even signed up for the well-known firearms-related forums, because they are so rife with hatred and bigotry. I don't want to be associated with that kind of thing. They also contain quite a bit of misinformation and suggestions of illegal activity.

Me too, but it lasted one day! I could not navigate it, and did not like the preciseness of the answers and/or opinions! I have had a ton of questions answered (whether I specifically asked them or not!).

I agree, the high standards of conduct and language REQUIRED are what drew me and keeps me here! Thanks Charles! You definitely met a need!

This actually the first and only forum I have ever joined. I had poked around in some of the others, as many have done, but this is where I landed. I am in 100% agreement about the quality, navigability, and content in here. I appreciate the lack of brow-beating and demeaning comments I have seen in other places. There is no name calling, and no outward animosity. Very civilized place to be in a very uncivilized world.

There goes another 2¢! I like using the ¢ sign. It's much more cool than $.02, IMHO. Besides, I don't have nearly as many $ as I do ¢..... :cheers2:

Our CHL instructor recommended this site to us and I think my wife wishes he hadn't after all the hours I spend on here!

It is IMHO the single most useful site for both CHL holders and for gun enthusiasts alike.

Charles does a bang up job of keeping things PC and G rated....OK maybe PG13 at times, but never X :thumbs2:
