Firearm viewable from the street/sidewalk?

#1

Post by JasonH »

I spend a lot of time on my gun bench in my garage tinkering around with my guns whether it be cleaning them, tuning them, or whatever, and I'm clearly visible from the sidewalk or street.

My question is what are the legalities of "brandishing" or any other possible issues in a scenario like this?

Obviously I'm not aiming a rifle at a friend's house to test out the eye relief on a new scope or anything stupid like that but there are still plenty of times I'll be shouldering a rifle or shotgun to test out the feel of a new adjustment (or whatever) and I notice there are neighbors either walking or driving by.

Nobody has ever complained or even said a single negative word to me but I'd like to hear some thoughts.

Thanks.

It's not brandishing.

I worry more about people knowing how much I deal in guns, or how many I have. It's more about a security issue. It's why I don't have TSRA or NRA decals on my truck.

As long as it`s on your property and your not pointing it at anyone , there is no issue

I agree here, I try and stay low when loading the long guns into the truck. I don't want folks knowing what I have here at the house, I don't live in a good part of town. I don't see your situation being a problem, if someone does have a problem with it and calls the cops they will have to come "investigate" and I am pretty sure they'll just make an appearance.

Go mow your yard open carry with 5 guns on your belt, its not illegal. :txflag:
