My son had a Springfield XD45 stolen out of his truck last Thursday night (5/28/09). The truck was parked at a friend's house while they went bowfishing. Other than a pair of footprints walking up and down the driveway (and the missing pistol), there was no indication that anyone had been there. The house sits about 600' off of the closest road and very few people new he was there that night or that he kept the gun in his vehicle. This appears to mean it was someone that he knows, which to him is almost as disheartening (thinking he has a friend that can't be trusted) as the gun being stolen.
We just returned from filing the Police Report so at least it will be entered into the system. Is there anything else we can do to get the information out to where the gun might be recovered? Other than someone Pawning the gun or having some repair work done on it, I doubt if we will ever see the gun again (although with the intelligence of some people these days, the person that stole it could break it out to shoot wioth him one day).

Is your son an NRA member? If so, you might want to look into filing an ArmsCare claim (or signing up ASAP if he isn't already a member): http://www.locktonrisk.com/nrains/armscare.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Carrying since 02/06/2009.
