TSRA license plate

Post by DiverDn »

Can anyone tell me if any of the extra $30 you pay for a TSRA license plate goes to the TSRA?

Or is it just a good way to show your support for TSRA?

This is from 2003, but gives me a good idea of where the funds are applied. Take care.

Deuell Files Scholarship Enhancement Bill
(Austin) - On Tuesday, State Senator Bob Deuell (R-Greenville) filed legislation that will supplement scholarship programs to universities in the Texas A&M University System. The bill, Senate Bill 874, uses the money collected from Texas State Rifle Association license plates to be used for scholarship programs at A&M system schools, including Texas A&M University at Commerce.

Deuell said he is happy to facilitate a program that will see more money being put back into scholarship programs.

"I'm proud to file this bill in support of students and higher education," Deuell said. "I will be very happy to see some of this money being used by students at A&M Commerce."

The bill allows the Department of Transportation to collect eight dollars of the annual fee for each set of TSRA license plates issued, with the remained of the fee being appropriated only to Texas A&M University system to supplement existing and future scholarship programs supported by TSRA.

The money will also be used to provide grants to 4-H Club shooting sports programs to promote safety education.

Dang it! My oldest has one of those CCA plates but since I am not that fond of fishing I did not think about the specialty TSRA plate until now.

Now I have quite the conundrum to deal with. Since my blood runs burnt orange, do I really want to spend the bucks to support the Aggies?

Decisions, decisions.

I suppose it would be okay, since Nick and all the other maroon clad Aggies are good folk.

Except on the day after Thanksgiving.

Yes, I do love Aggies.

Just as much as Aggies love us 'Horns. Except the day after Thanksgiving. And I do root for the Ags when they play others, especially OU.

And I must say that in all of my travels, the Texas (not just the 'Horns - remember the SWC?) not everyon e understands the rivalries. I have been asked to explain a lot about Texas and our way of life. My standard reply is "If I have to explain you will not understand anyway."

The same reaally applies with the RKBA. I do take time to explain that.

There! Stayed on topic. Snuck in gun related stuff.
