Shooting Glock27

Need some help. I am used to shooting large frame autos and recently bought a Glock 27 for CHL. I am having problems at the range with it. The problems is certainly not the Glock's...it's user error. The Glock is so small that it has pretty good recoil. I'm hitting the target to the left, and don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can knock the center out with one of my larger pistols, but this one is really taking some getting used to. I've put the pearce magazine extenders on it for a place to rest my little finger, but it's not helping the shot placement. I think I am anticipating the recoil. If this is the case, what can I do to minimize it and get back on target (pun intended)?

Also, would lightening the trigger pull be a safe idea?

I had a similar issue the two times I shot a Subcompact Glock (26 and 27). It seemed as though, when I was squeezing the trigger, I was pushing the entire weapon to the left. I had to adjust my finger placement and place more finger on the trigger than I am used to. I have always learned to only place the tip of your finger, before the first joint, on the trigger. With the 26/27, I had to go to the joint itself. It gave me greater control but felt as weird as weird can.

I may still have the incorrect form, but this worked for me.

Dry fire, dry fire, then dry fire some more.

The first key to success with this is going to be making absolutely sure that the gun is unloaded. After you're positive, rack the slide, take aim at a target and slowly pull the trigger, focusing on the front sight. This is the best method that I've found for diagnosing problems with pulling the trigger.

I would hesitate to lighten the trigger anymore than the stock trigger for a carry gun, but I prefer the heavier NY1 trigger spring, with the 3.5 lbs connector on my carry gun.

That chart is a great help in diagnosing the problem...Maybe I shouldn't say a problem, its more like a psychological issue...I would say it's a 50/50 gun to user issue...

I have a friend who has two of those little firecrackers...And I have to say that they are hard to get used to at first...He's a small guy, but a good shooter, but I took a try on those things, and I have to say that those are probably the worst experences for me I can ever think of in shooting any firearm ever...

I would say they are really too little a gun for the caliber (.40) for the G27, the 9mm G26 is about right for the combo, but thats about it...Functionally, sure, they both work...It's just a little too much pop in that size frame...But that is just my personal opinion...

Even my wife swore off shooting anything in the .40 because of that experience...

Obviously with enough practice, you can get proficient enough to bet your life on that combo...

I carried the G23 (and still would if I have to) for 8 years, but I got bit by the 1911 bug and haven't looked back...

My best advice, practice and stick to it for a couple of years...See how you feel about it then...

No one is ever wrong about the firearm they choose at that time to carry for such an important issue as self-defense...The journey they take along the way to find the perfect combination of gun and ammo is actually have the fun, considering the seriousness of the overall issue...

Great...thanks a lot for the info. Loks like I just need to put a few hundred more rounds through it...if I can ever find any!! That diagram may also explain 7X7 bull elk that got away!!

buy some snap caps or dummy rounds and place one or two in per magazine. You know they are there but not when they will come up, you will see yourself flinch on the dummy round.

I printed it out a few years back and lost it at some point, so I finally wised up and saved it once I came across it again.

I should have mentioned that the diagram is for right handed shooters, but I'm sure the left handers are smart enough to figure that out.
