Winchester 22 Mag. Ammo Recall

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I received an email from Winchester concerning a recall on certain lots of Winchester .22 Mag. ammo. The email seems legitimate as does the link below.

It's legitimate - - - I just checked the Winchester website.

Through extensive evaluation Winchester has determined the above lots of Dynapoint® Magnum 22 Win. Mag. ammunition may contain double powder charges. Double powder charge weight ammunition may cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable, and subject the shooter to a risk of personal injury when fired.
Holy split receiver batman!

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think I have any win 22 mag, usually only buy CCI but I will look.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

I checked mine. I don't have that lot number. Thanks for the heads up. I am curious though. How did they know you bought the ammo to send you a notice?

I didn't buy any of it and I'm not really sure how I got the email. I seem to remember registering for Winchester emails for reloading quite some time back, but I can't remember the last time I received one.

Hmmm...I wonder when that hit the store shelves. I had a couple boxes of Dynapoints a few months back that made my Model 94 shoot patterns that looked more like buckshot from a sawed-off shotgun. PMC Predators, OTOH, shoot nice groups through it.
