Pasadena or Austin gun show?

Do y'all recommend going to the Pasadena or Austin gun show this weekend? I haven't been to either and have a day off to go to one. They are both the same distance from me. So who has a better selection or more vendors? Thanks,

I went to the Austin show several yr ago & was not at all impressed w/ price. Good selection. Have been to the Pasadena show several times & thought it was far better as far as price. Not near as big. Looking for something rare. Probably Austin. Something quality but common & available< I would choose P. My .02 cents. Some think it worth about half that.

Can't comment on Austin, but I'd agree with the Pasadena assessment. I'll be there in the morn'.

OK the Austin Show is POSTED and the Austin show is not a real gun show as it has over the years got to much of a Arts and Craft show. the last show I went to they had a APD officer that was write down gun model and SS numbers as there Cheif that's gone now wanted.


I would say go to the other show and not worry about the Austin show as its got way to weird

I'm not an authority at all, and Austin is the only gun show I've been to, but I think it's got most everything you could want. There's new/used/collectible/customized guns&knives, and ammo - box and bulk, factory and handloads for about everything you can shoot.

They also have jewelry, home decorations, crafts, political T-shirts, books, manuals, military surplus accessories, cleaning supplies, holsters, sheaths, handloading equipment, mags, scopes, beef jerky...

Most of the sellers are really friendly, easy to strike up a conversation with and get answers to all kinds of questions.

Like I said, it's the only gun show I've been too, I don't like travelling too far out of the way if I don't have to, but one of these days, I am going to try another show, just to see how different they are, but I am happy with Austin. I'll be there Sunday.

As they state "NO loaded guns", I'd imagine they are.

Yes, the Pasadena show will be posted.

They'll have uniformed police officers at the door. If you want to bring in a gun, it needs to be unloaded, and in view. The officers will place a tie wrap around the trigger before you enter.

I've been to High Caliber shows in Pasadena and they are pretty good. Never been to a 'Real Gun Show' show and wondering if anyone is familar with them

In my opinion...the Real Gun show does not have the same quality. Many of the vendors are the same, but there seems to be less quality merchandise. Of course, this changes from month to month due to the frequency of these shows. Both are fun.......enjoy yourself.

Just got back. It was fairly weak, with the exception of about 3 major vendors. AJC had a huge selection, as usual. I had to wait to sell my Combat Commander before making a move, and by the time I did, my selection had been sold. I wanted a Kahr PM9 for pocket carry, and they had one at $510. I ended up with the larger and cheaper CW9 at $389, so I guess I'll need slightly bigger pockets.

Dealer tried to screw me over ;

I brought in a rifle to trade in and he looked it over and low balled me big time on a trade. I asked how old his book was (gun bible or some sort) and he got upset Like was questioning his honesty. I said OK thanks and left.
I continued to walk around the show looking for a good deal on a trade. I walked up to a another dealer that had a price on a pistol that was reasonable and while I was waiting to speak to him Dealer #1 came a whispered something in his ear. when dealer # 2 turned back around he said sorry not interested in your gun. without even looking at it. I asked what the other dealer had whispered and he said the dealer said my rifle I closed on a no-go gage. My rifle was ziptied so not sure how that could have happened.
So he blackballed me from that dealer. I was totaly surprised, he must have been irritated that didn't want to buy a kimber from him.I really got fumed about that and went to another dealer that had expressed interest in my rifle and he said sorry never mind i have to make some sales for any cash. He was next both over from dealer #1.

I went to a 4Th dealer and got a fair trade in price from him ($200 more than dealer #1 refered to in his book) on a springfield 1911 A1 and bought it .

I wanted a kimber custom II but I got the caliber and quality that I wanted.

I would have had no problem with dealer # 1 not giving me business but to find another dealer and have him whisper in his ear right in front of me to prevent my business, that's just underhanded.

This was the 2ND visit to this gun show and I doubt I'm going back.It was my friends first gunshow was and was not impressed.

The dealer was a kimber dealer with a black kimber hat. He was near the front door on the first row away from the wall. I won't be back if this is the sort of behavior to expect. I even had my children with me and they are the next generation of gun owners. What a bad example.

Not the everyday occurance. I have been to many & find the dealers & also individuals walking around looking for trades to be generally very honest & ethical. Give another show another try & if you see the same dealer just stay away from him. That kind of ethics will take its tole on business in its own short time.
