Every non-disposable camera I ever owned had a timer. Digital or 35mm.

I agree Texas needs to try harder to get rid of those 9 points of infringement.

Five of the nine points for Texas are for the law that makes it an offense to allow a child unsupervised access to a loaded firearm.

I doubt that one will be repealed. The rhetoric that trying to repeal it would generate would be hysterical.

We can probably burn those by pointing out 46.13(c)(4):
(c) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the child's access to the firearm:
(4) occurred during a time when the actor was engaged in an agricultural enterprise.

So...you can let Junior chew on your loaded AK47 while you go feed the cows.

Maybe its my OCD tendencies here, but I can't really trust everything this news story says when they can't even get the type of firearm right.

Unless I need to clean my glasses, doesn't that look like a shotgun and not a rifle? Or does she have a 'silencer' on it?

I know that people who have no concept of guns outside of what they saw on "Law & Order" may have some trouble telling the difference between firearm types, but shouldn't/wouldn't a journalist make an attempt to get the story straight? Or am I all alone out here?

Here endeth the rant. Go in peace.

I don't think I'm paranoid, but I never really hear anything good come out of these sites...
It's not all bad. probably half of my church have facebook accounts and we communicate with one another all the time that way. On the other hand, there's nothing there to hide or that you wouldn't feel comfortable having another church member see it.

Yes, it's a shotgun. I'd say 12-gauge.

I didn't notice that. The photo is really small on my laptop, and blurry. I copied it and blew it up.

I took the word rifle from the story.

Jim,

Please don't think I was griping at you.I saw that you had just posted the story as it was reported. I was aiming my wrath (mild as it was) at those incompetent journalists who reported the story. When I saw this story the other day I immediately saw that it was a shotgun. It just frustrates me that so many reporters assume: long=rifle, black=evil, handgun=automatic, etc.

It was hard to see what it was unless you blew up the photo or saw the video where they flashed the pic for all of 3 seconds or so.

Being put on administrative leave is often the first step toward being fired.

Many teachers' unions have a due process for firing where the person has a period of administrative leave followed by a hearing before the school board.

It is also possible they will let her do busy work until the end of the school year and then not renew her contract.

That's good to hear, though I think a lot of that has to do with this being a 1st amendment issue. Still good to hear.

I think if you are of a certain age (I'm 60) then you are smart enough not to get involved with these online communities. I got an invite to join someone's face book page that I hadn't seen or heard of since 6th grade. There was a reason for that. I didn't like her then and nothing has occurred in the intervening years to cause me to change my mind; Idiot.
I have been involved in online communities since they existed, and have had some very interesting interactions through and due to them. A sailor I was in the Navy with and mentored to E-4 was reported to me to have died in 'Nam, and imagine my surprise when he contacted me a couple of years ago.

After 23 years of marriage, my first wife passed way 16 years ago. Due to an interesting set of circumstances I contacted my high school sweetheart who had broken up with me under mysterious circumstances, and I had thought badly of her for the intervening 28 years. We have been happily married for 15 1/2 years.
