Austin Get-Together - October 25th
Going from the results of the poll I posted, I'm scheduling an Austin get-together for Saturday, October 25th.
We'll be meeting up at Lone Star Gun Range around noon (I'll be there a little earlier). My guess is that we'll shoot and talk until 5-6pm, then depart for dinner at one of the Lockhart barbecue establishments, probably Black's.
Everyone is encouraged to bring any guns you want to shoot or share. If anyone wants to "try out" other folks guns, I'd suggest posting here and see what everyone has and what ammo you need to bring.
LSGR has both a rifle and 2 pistol ranges. There is a moving and shooting pistol range that can be used and is good for shotgun practice as well. Buckshot is suggested if you're going to be shooting a shotty, in order to be respectful of their target boards. I may fabricate a target board or two for us to use with shotguns, so we don't tear up the range's boards.
If it's your first time to shoot at LSGR, there is a $5 registration fee. All-day shooting is $12. 1-year memberships can be purchased for $65.
You can check the range's website out at http://www.ctxpta.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
Black's Barbecue's website is at http://www.blacksbbq.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
Out-of-towners are welcome, and you are more than welcome to bring family/guests as well.
So we can have an idea of how many are coming and possible do some carpooling, please post letting us know if you can come.

If I can make it I'll bring ALL my current firearms including my little bro's G20. Texas Tactical has IDPA matches on 10/18/08 and 10/26/08. I might just go to the 18th Texas Tactical and save ammo for the Austin get together.

Looks good for me! Heck, I'll bring all I own too. Mosin Nagant (7.62x54R), Remington 770 30.06 (need to sight it in, so this will work perfect - I haven't sighted a scoped rifle since I was 12 and had help...so I may need to assistance), Bushy AR-15 5.56/.223 (need to sight it in as well), SKB 12ga., G23, XD45, KelTec P3AT, Bersa .380, Rossi 351 (.38spl). Anyone is more than welcome to shoot whatever I have.
Furyataurus, I'm right down the road from you (Bandera and Guilbeau Area) so I'd be more than willing to drive if you want to save the gas. I see we're the same age and like BBQ, so we'll have something to chat about!

Looks like I will miss out on the fun and good times. I will have about a week left in theater, so I will be checking for any other gatherings after November 1st. You all have a great time, be safe, and enjoy the BBQ, makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Got back from the gun show today. Picked up 50 rounds of Magtech .223 and 25 rounds of Winchester Ranger Low Recoil Buckshot. The low recoil buckshot is GREAT!!!!!!!! Its like shooting birdshot!

My sons and I would like to attend also. I just need to check and ensure that they are not working that weekend.

I haven't had the chance of shooting a firearm in 357 Sig yet. Is anyone that's going have a firearm in 357 Sig? Doesn't really matter which brand, the more the merrier!

Re: Austin Get-Together - October 25th
So it looks like we're going to go ahead and make this a 2-forum gathering. The folks over at the texasguntalk.com forums were planning a range day for the same time, and since there are several folks here on both forums, Target1911 proposed that we make it a 2-forum event. So all plans remain the same, except that we'll have some additional folks from another forum. The more the merrier, I say!

Hi Everyone. I'm Travis from TGT (one of the founders of that forum). I am planning on being out there as well, and so are some of our other forum members. It sounds like there should be a decent turnout.
Re: Austin Get-Together - October 25th
I've got a Glock 22C .40, S&W .38+P Airweight, and a S&W 909 9MM. I'll be bringing them all. I may also have some Mosin Nagant's M91/30s that will be available to shoot, if the trade goes through by then. I live in Elgin if anybody needs a ride.

Looks like I'll also have 4 Mosin Nagants M91/30s and over 600 rounds that I will need help getting rid of .
