City ordinances are class C misdemeanors. Municipal Courts have no jurisdiction to hear higher offenses.

If you did not fight the ticket in San Antonio, you would be out money and have a weapons conviction on your record.

Thanks all. I'm not saying that's the route to go. I was just curious. Personally, I'd spend the money on representation and fight it.

Good for you. It is time that attitude is taken-up by every person in the State.

What about the knife law? Is it completely valid or is there some sort of knife preemption that I don't know about?

It's neither common nor enforceable. It's preempted by State law. San Antonio has a lot like Jersey City, NJ -- it thinks it's not subject to state law.
Ha! Jersey is like being in a prison or a farm without any proper self defense. No matter if you're in the country and a deer attacks or you're in jersey city or Trenton and a deer attacks....you still cannot defend yourself.

P.S. there are no deer in Trenton or Jersey City, or Newark.

Lest anyone forget, you have no legal obligation to allow an officer to search your car. If they have legal probable cause, they are going to search it anyways. If they ask, simply say no. ;-) Situation avoided.
