My decision to act wouldn't be based on the fact that well yeah, money can be replaced. I happen to believe that stealing is wrong, even if it's just money. Even when no one risks getting killed, I will always (given the means) act to try to stop a crime. It's just wrong. You don't steal. I was brought up knowing that if something doesn't belong to you, you keep your hands off it unless the rightful owner tells you to touch it. Whether it's money, a car, a computer, whatever.HerbM wrote:For me, I won't watch someone be murdered, raped, tortured, or some innocent beaten to the point of permanent or great bodily harm. unfortunately, I see the above trend in the video of killing all witnesses as becoming more common in crime. Criminals dont learn from more jail time or punishment, they only learn how to prevent going back to prision (i.e.: Killing every witness, every time).israel67 wrote:Awful video.JDKRIEK wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xla55bM6UrA
My take on it is from the 'safety' of several thousand miles away, but I don't really see why anyone would hesitate a single second.
I believe I have a moral duty to protect life wherever and whenever I can. If I ever find myself mixed up in an armed robbery here in France, all I'll be able to do is shut up and hope they won't kill me. If it happens in Texas and I have a weapon, then as far as I'm concerned, it would be morally unforgiveable of me to just 'be a good witness'. No way am I going to just sit there and watch this go down, if I have the means on my person, to end it. I would never forgive myself. What if they get out without harming someone, and then kill a child at their next robbery?
No. If I can do anything at all to bring that robbery to an end, I'm going to do it.
I feel a criminal is a criminal, and you dont know which ones wouldnt kill anyone and even robs with an empty gun and those who are true blood-lusting criminals. You dont know if they will get angry because they "couldnt get any money" and just shoot because they cant control their emotions. Because of this, as others have said before - I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by six.

Re: CHL'ers: What would you do in this scenario?
After reading the scenario several times, then reviewing everybodies opinion, I really dont think you can make this call with the info provided. BUT heres my thoughts.
Fact: My gun will be drawn in a low ready position. I will find cover with a view. I will aquire my target zone. I will also start calculating varibles. This is what i train for.
Opinion:
1) If i was alone, no wife and kids. Then my reaction would be of a good witness unless goblin starts firing. If the BG starts firing, doesnt even really matter at whom, i would take the first clean shot, starting with a double tap to the chest, just like I practiced so many times. Because this puts my life at immediate risk of ending. I could be next.
2) If wife and kid was in the store with me, My first priority would be to get them to safe location, and if BG is in the way,, then so be it, my wife and kids come before any other living being on this earth, and the BG's well-being will be sacrificed with swift action.
I would not shoot first just because of a robbery when i'm alone, thats what insurance is for. "Things" can be replaced, people cannot not even the BG, as evil as BG may seem his life is still worth something. Only when my life or my families life is in immediate danger of ending will I make such a call to end a life. Robbery is law, life is sacred.
Just to state this again, there is not enough information to give more details about a action plan. Is there a freezer door i can get my wife and child in, will bg notice, is there a locked bathroom... etc.
Cheers, and great topic. Really gets your thinking.

Same happening here. Violence is now no longer a 'last resort' for these people, but the norm. So when you see or hear them come into the liquor store, or the bank or wherever, you can no longer say, 'I'm about to be robbed', but 'I might be about to die'.Glock 23 wrote:unfortunately, I see the above trend in the video of killing all witnesses as becoming more common in crime.
