It might be doable if it was discussed and prearranged by phone and would allow for privacy during the fitting.

I've never had anything tailored in my life.

But would you prearrange something with someone that was going to freak?

You call and speak to a manager. You explain what you would like over the phone and ask whether they can accomodate you.

If they have someone who doesn't mind doing the fitting and a room that allows privacy, why not?

Taint as bad as y'all are makin it out to be. I had to get fitted at for suit last year, at Men's Wearhouse near Baybrook mall, I took the sales person aside and explained I had a little problem. I then explained I carry a handgun and will be carying at the wedding. She didn't freak out, she didn't scream or go pale white and pass out. She just said, "is that all sweetie, thats not a problem." I didn't go into a secret room but everything was discreet. No pain involved.

I get all my shirts tailored at Nordstroms for CCW. I am carrying AIWB no holster when the fitter measures me and marks the shirt. Sometimes I have to lift my shirt or remove a garment and its no big deal for them or the salesmen if the pistol is displayed.

No offense, but I am noticing that many of these pictures of you guys effectively carrying a mid-size or a full-size pistol concealed involve two very key ingredients:

1. person carrying is significantly overweight
2. the cover garment is very noticeably oversized

So the question is, can someone who is not overweight and does not wear oversized clothing carry a G19 size pistol?

The only way I have found that's even remotely doable is with a Smartcarry, and that's not exactly really easy or comfortable in all conditions. I'm sure I can draw from it ok but I am not really anxious to have to. About the only other way would be SOB but that prints instantly as soon as you bend at all, and of course it's hardly comfortable. Of course I have not tried every IWB holster on the planet but I have tried just sticking the gun in my waist band at various locations and there is nowhere it will go that it doesn't print unless the bulk of the gun is carried below the belt line and the butt of the gun is obscured by the belt line such as with a Smartcarry.

I am about 190lb just a hair under 6' tall and wear size L (42) shirts, 33-34" waist jeans that are not "relaxed fit" but more "regular fit" like 501s. My shirts are not tight but they are not oversized (I can fit into a M ... and some of my shirts are M or even S depending on the maker... so I guess even L's are oversized a little bit). I don't wear a stiff belt routinely. I'm all ears if there is a way to carry my Sigma 9mm with an IWB.

us big guys have to do what we do for comfort and our love handles can make the gun stick out some

I carry a G23 in a Crossbreed SuperTuck. If I'm not at work, I wear it with my shirt untucked, but I've worn it many times with a shirt tucked in without issue. I simply have to pull the shirt out a little bit to hide any sort of bulge the gun might make.

edit: I'm 6', and weigh about 195.

I am 6' 2", have a 33" waist, weigh 170 lbs., and here's my IWB setup with my Beretta M9:
