I ship via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) without disclosing the contents being a handgun if I am shipping to a manufacture or FFL as that are “other than under the 1968 GCA.

While I am not a lawyer, I am capable of reading [18 U. S. C. 922( a)( 2)( A) and 922( e), 27 CFR 178.31] which is sighted by the ATF’s web site. It is clear to me that the answer to the ATF question simply assumes that the question was not in regard to an “other than.
178.31 Delivery by common or contract carrier.

(a) No person shall knowingly deliver or cause to be delivered to any common or contract carrier for transportation or shipment in interstate or foreign commerce to any person other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, any package or other container in which there is any firearm or ammunition without written notice to the carrier that such firearm or ammunition is being transported or shipped:
(my emphasis above)

I have no fear of breaking the law but those that feel different, should pay the excess shipping rather than worry.

Just wondering what problems you were having. I have a new PT22 that i'm breaking in now. It's had a failure to eject a couple times, but otherwise it's pretty neat.

The gun had several problems. hanging on top of breach while feeding, saftey disengaging with little pressure on the trigger. trigger going all the way back without releasing the hammer @1 out of ten pulls, and light strikes causing failure to fire. It is @ ten years old and I bought it for my daughter, she never fired it and gave it back to me since her husband is well armed.

I would be interested in your results. I've been looking at more Taurus.

Well it looks like its going to cost me about $60 to ship it using either FedEx or UPS, and neither have locations that are close to me.

What a major pain!
