From reading this and the related links, it seems the whole point of the exercise is to let folks who make statements like that prove it. Actions speak louder than words, so to speak. And that's primarily what the gun forums are full of - words.

From 12+ years of conducting CHL "demonstrations of proficiency", I can assure you, just like the Glocks and 1911s, the Sigs can and do fail to run flawlessly. The less-than-flawless performance is often related to magazines. And with the proposed "tortue test" requiring at least 7 magazines, to me, that just increases the probability of Murphy being able to do his thing.

Not to take anything away from this thing, but I'm not as worried about mah gun running 1k rounds without a cleaning as I am about it running the 1-15rds when I need them. I keep it clean and well earled, and in those conditions, it's never failed.

I'd be interested in how it does, though. I'll give a dollar to the person who does 1k of .357mag in my Titanium revolver, though!

Who cares about what another person believes or whether they like or trust my handgun.
I have nothing to prove to anyone else. Whether my handguns functions or not after a 1000 rounds of ammo is stupid.
In real life, If I have "won" after a couple of magazines, "I'm outa' there". Tactical Egress is highly underrated in a civilian gun fight.
Why don't folks look to real life instead of kid fiction?

I think I'll take up this challenge then. I've put 13,000 rounds (give or take a few hundred) through this particular piece, never had a single problem.

This all sounds like an invite to blow a bunch of ammo, just to make a point about how someones gun does better than someone elses...

It does sound like fun, but if I had a failure, I would hope I would know how to clear it and keep plugging away without too much of a fuss, regardless of the make and model...

If you want to get down to brass facts...Hanguns are not supposed to be there for any substantial suppresive fire type senarios...They are convienient, they are concealable, and they are designed to get you out of trouble, faster than you got into it...

If you need to expend more rounds than you can carry, get a rifle (or too one)...Or a shotgun...

Ok, here's another way to look at it.

How'd you like to shoot all day for free at steel targets, some of them reactive and/or moving targets?

The way I see it, I've never wasted a second of time at a shooting range, and when I can shoot for only the cost of ammunition that's even better. Some might not see it that way...

I'm taking my nightstand gun to the match. I think it will be a worthwhile day at the range--that comes with some bragging rights and also a chance to collect some interesting information at the same time.

1,000 rounds is a little rich for my blood. That being said, I'm reasonably confident that my H&K USP would do it - if I had the money for the ammo. My 1911s - including my Kimber - I don't know... They are fairly reliable, but I can't truthfully say that I have never, ever, had a jam in one of them. And in my Kimber, which is brand new, I have already had magazine issues related to the shape of the slide lock lever, causing the slide to occasionally lock back on a magazine that isn't empty. Kimber has sent me a reshaped one, and I'm waiting for it to arrive. But with my H&K, after having put pretty close to 1,000 rounds through it, the only malfunction I have ever experienced was just one time when the slide failed to lock back on the last round of a magazine. The gun continued to run flawlessly afterward, so I attribute it to an underloaded round from the box of cheap Monarch ammunition I was shooting.

If had the money for 1000 rounds of ammo and lived in Dallas, I'd put my Glock 17 (and my shooting skills ) up against any gun on the market. Why can't you be in Houston? darn....
