Defensive shotguns: What do you have?

Yes, that shotgun is perfectly legal. Not sure I'd want one, though - firing 12 gauge from a pistol grip hurts. Plus, I prefer the anchor point of a shoulder stock for aiming; "shooting from the hip" isn't always that accurate.

Stockless pistol grips on a shotgun look cool in the movies, and you can carry it in smaller bag or case, but that's about the limit of the value.

If you hold a standard-stock shotgun in assault (or assault-fire) position with the stock tucked up under your strong-side arm and clamped between your upper arm and body, you present a profile that's no longer than a pistol-grip-only gun...and you have much better retention and aiming capability, even if you have to point-shoot. And if you have to take an aimed shot, holding that pistol-grip-only out in front of your face and pulling the trigger on a 12ga. round is not something I've ever tried...or would want to.

Gimme a shotgun and a pistol, not one tool that tries to be both.

Jim Pruett's Gun Store in Cypress was advertising them a year or so ago, when Mr. Pruett caught flack for calling the Katrina transplants in Houston "Katricians". I think he advertised the shotgun as a "Looter Shooter". I sure miss hearing Mr. Pruett on the radio.

Pruett pointed out that "Katricians" were the criminals that arrived here.

I stopped by his store on Saturday, after the Hoffner lecture & class. He has a very well stocked store.

So you made Hoffner's class! Good for you. I wish I hadn't had to work and could have met you.

Jim and his family--and his staff at the store--are good people. Yeah, I miss this Texas Radio Hall of Fame member on the airwaves, and I used to tune in regularly to the segment he and Hoffner used to do. I've nudged him to consider an Internet broadcast.

He's a good friend to the 2nd Amendment and CHL.

Hello, board newbie here!

I use a Mossberg 9200, with Choate pistol grip / side folding stock and 2 rd mag extension (6 +1)
It's similar to the "jungle" gun, except thinner wall barrel, plaric trigger group, and specific gas venting system to enable more reliable use of 3"mag. shells (2 3/4 shells recommended forJungle gun).

Anyone else have / have experience with the 9200?

I saw the Jungle Gun frequently on Johnny Rowland's Guns & Gears tv show several years ago.

Wanted one ever since but haven't come across one.
