What's in YOUR cleaning kit?

For all of you Gun Scrubber users, I'd like to mention that brake cleaner that Walmart sells for about $1.80 works as well.

Same considerations. Don't get it on wood, plastic, rubber, or YOU.

I use brake cleaner also. I have got it on some of the plastic on my Ruger and it didn't seem to mind. I wouldn't advise indiscriminate use of it on all plastic though.
Someone mentioned the Hoppes Silicone cloth. Great stuff, gun stays protected even even in this Gulf Coast salty air.

The Sentry cloths, especially the Marine Sentry, are also excellent.

Break Free, Hoppes #9 solvent, Hoppes lube oil, Nylon bristle tips, mop tips, patches, nylon toothbrushes, towels to wipe things down...

The whole air compressor thing just hit me like a "I coulda had a V-8!" Geesh I live in a box sometimes!!!

I wonder if the temperature of a "can" of compressed air would do more harm than good to blow things out of the crevaces??? Or crystalize due to the low temperature some of the residual solvents and oils on guns surfaces...

I figure room temp air blown in force by a compressor would not be a bad idea...But some folks might not have a compressor...

I've seen some small "chamber" compressors (hobby type rigs) at Lowes, Home Depot etc etc that might work real well, and not be a show stopper on prices...

Might be another road trip tomorrow...

Don't be afraid to think outside the box.

Popcicle sticks come in mighty handy. Wrapped with a thin cloth, they are great for cleaning rails.

They can be bought in hobby shops, but where's the fun in that.

At Walmart tonight, I bought a package of bamboo skewers. 12" long and pointed, looks they might be good for getting into small, hard to get places.

If you are unfortunate or careless enough to get a spot of rust on a blued finish, Blue Wonder gun cleaner on a pad of 0000 steel wool removes the rust without harming the blue.

Below is a picture of what's in my cleaning kit.

As far as solvents/cleaners/lubes go, I use Gun Scrubber, Hoppes No. 9, Break Free CLP. I've also treated my pistols with Microlon Gun Juice.

I've got various cleaning rods and brushes, and the field maintenance kits for my Mosin-Nagant rifles. I've got Bore Snakes for my rifles as well, and of course there are patches.

I also use Q-Tips quite a bit while cleaning.

Anyone have any experience with Gibb's (no, not the guy from NCIS) Cleaner, Lubricant, Protectant?

I went by the guy's booth at the GUN SHOW (baby, gun show), at the DMH, and he showed me a Taurus 92 clone that seemed to just float on its rails. I figure, sure, coulda just machined it that loose with a dremel, but I'll give it a shot.

took it home, put it on my XD, and sho' nuff, thing really seemed to work nicely on the rails, making the slide just glide back and fro. it got some gunk off of another gun that I was positive would have to be considered a new part! srsly.
didn't smell too bad, and left a nice sheen (glow, if you will) on the gun, too. hey, doesn't like something shiny, I mean c'mon, you pull your gat, the crook in question goes, "Ooh, something shiny..." you may not even have to do anything else.

back to the point. anyone else heard of this schtuff? seems cool to me! lil expensive, so we'll see how it lasts.
