First 1911, a gift from my wife!

#1

Post by lawrnk »

You may recall my post about my wife refusing to buy me a 1911 for christmas. My last gift, and I was totally surprised, was from santa. I poached this picture online, but mine is identical. She also ordered custom grips, and a slew of 7.62x39 for my AK.

Standard specs, but having never fired a 1911, I can tell already I love the trigger. The weight throws me off being used to glocks now, but it sure it a beauty. Thanks go to Jasonh for referring my wife to the springfield. I intended to buy a RIA first, but Sarco was so hard to deal with. This thing is massive and heavy as a brick! I have no idea how some of you CCW with these bad boys.

So...my wife is finally coming to the gun side :hurry:

Springfields Mil-Spec pistol is a faithful recreation of John Brownings classic 1911-A1. If you are looking for traditional features and quality in a no nonsense package, this gun is for you. The Mil-Spec is a famed war horse among American firearms.

Just in case you dont know, the specs you posted are wrong. The 1911 is almost always single action only. Very few make a Double action.
SPECIFICATIONS
Type: Pistol
Action: Single
Caliber: 45 ACP
Barrel Length: 5"
Capacity: 7 + 1
Safety: Thumb, Grip & Integral Locking System
Grips: Wood
Sights: 3-Dot Combat
Weight: 35.6 oz
Also, you can get 8 round mags for it that fit stock. 2 came with my RIA that are 8 rounders and they work great. I think they are Novaks. I have 2 full size Springers and they re heavier than other brands to me but I am a Springfield and Kimber guy myself.

I also carried a Glock before turning to a 1911. Welcome to the dark side young padawan. I sense the force is strong in you.
