I have seen several pictures of people carrying their shells like that and I found it kind of difficult to get the shells out when I carried them brass down? It is a very tight fit (which I know is good) but its almost too tight to me, what do you guys recommend? I know its hard to demonstrate proper loading techinque from a side saddle in words, but maybe im trying to hold the SG wrong when loading?
I will do my best to describe this in text.
First, you've got the shotgun "mounted", meaning butt in your shoulder, left hand on fore-grip, right hand on pistol grip.
Let's assume your shotgun is fully loaded. Round in chamber, mag tube full. You're clearing your house and fire two rounds. Now you've got a round in the chamber and you're 2 short in the tube. With the shotgun still in the ready "mounted" position, take your right hand off the pistol grip, grab 2 shells from the side saddle (from underneath) and load them into the tube. If you can't hang onto two at once then do it one at a time. Then, when you come to the next room, or whatever, you're loaded to capacity again.
I recommend practicing this with SNAP CAPS OR DUMMY ROUNDS ONLY.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961
