Star Model B 9MM

Does anyone know much about these guns? I know they are Spanish and made by Garcia (same logo as the fishing reels). I ended up with one as a gift from my father and the gun is extremely accurate, when it is not busy jamming.

I think a couple of new mags would do the trick for her, but I am not sure. I was just wondering if anyone has ever picked one of these up and had similar experiences. The prices are excellent for a well built pistol, but expensive for a paper weight if I am not able to clear up the jamming problem.

I haven't handled the full-size Model B, but there are several of the compact Model BM 9mm's in our extended family. The only problem we have is with one particular magazine that a previous owner apparently modified; it feeds well but won't hold the slide open after the last round. Otherwise, they're consistantly accurate from gun to gun, & we've had no other problems with them.

I have one of their "UltraStar" models that I've had for about 10 or 11 years. I bought it cheap on a whim, but it turned out to be an accurate shooter and a nice little 9mm, except for the same problem that quidini mentioned..... its never reliably locked the slide back on last round. Otherwise, not bad for an economy model.........

The slide failing to lock open sounds like a weak magazine spring. I cured that problem on my 9mm Taurus by taking the magazine apart, stretching the spring out, and putting it back together. Replacing the spring altogether ought to work as well.
