I picked up the little Ruger Wrangler SA today and they offer a free range trip with the transfer fees at my favorite indoor range. Took several brands of .22 LR ammo to test. CCI Mini-Mag and Federal American Eagle functioned with no problems. Remington Thunderbolt wouldn't go into the chamber. The heel of the bullets stuck at the chamber mouth. I was able to force one in slightly barely past the start of the bullet cannelure. Winchester Super X were very tight going in and made turning the cylinder to load difficult. I had to really strike the ejector to get them out. I didn't take photos of the Winchester or Federal six shot groups, but I did take pix of two CCI groups. My old eyes really couldn't focus well in the grooved top strap and front sight alignment, so I just sort of swagged it. Wasn't too awfully bad at 21 feet. The round three inch target I stuck on looked like there was some keyholes so I shot the center of the paper to see what was going on and the bullet holes were normal.
The revolver doesn't function as an old SA does. You load the cylinder by opening the loading gate which allows the cylinder to turn. Same for unloading it. There is no safety cock or half cock for the hammer. In fact if you bring the hammer halfway back and release it forward the cylinder turns slightly as the stop releases it and then you can't pull the hammer back until you turn the cylinder to a point where the cylinder stop re-engages to lock the cylinder. Took a while to figure all that out. Trigger is not too awfully bad.
It came with a free Uncle Mike's nylon holster as pictured. Size wise it compares closely to a Ruger Single Six though the Wrangler plastic grip is a little thinner. I put the Bear Cat in to show the difference. Trigger pull is 5-1/4LB on my Wheeler mechanical scale and 4lb 15oz on my digital scale. $139.99 from CDNN, plus shipping and Tax, $175 and some change.

Nice review! That's a pretty big .22LR pistol. Does it hold 6 shots or 8 shots.
