Beretta 92X - Talk me out of it (or into it!)
I am so tempted by this gun but cannot explain why.
I own a 92FS and generally like it, but 99% of the time, I'm carrying a Glock of some variant.
I've only dry fired the 92X, but really liked how it felt both the trigger pull and how it felt in my hand.
For $699, it seems like a fantastic gun.
What do you all think? Anyone have one that can comment one way or another?

Well, since we're both in Houston, I'll do my best to talk you out of it. That way, perhaps I can buy it instead.Scott in Houston wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 10:13 pm I am so tempted by this gun but cannot explain why.

I have a 92FS as well. I won't use it as a carry gun because of the safety configuration on it, but it is a MOST dependable gun. Definitely something to have available if we ever go TEOTWAWKI.

Ha! Well, I've seen it at a few stores, so it appears to be readily available. We can both have one!Vol Texan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 10:25 pmWell, since we're both in Houston, I'll do my best to talk you out of it. I like my 92FS too, and only don't carry it because for its size & weight. The 92X is a bit lighter, but also has an 18+1 configuration vs the 15+1 for the 92FS. I also like it for home defense with the rail for a light and agree, the 92 platform is incredibly well made and dependable.
Re: Beretta 92X - Talk me out of it (or into it!)
Sorry, your not going to get any help from me either. The 92 platform, especially some of the newer upgraded models such as the X just check off every one of my boxes on what a handgun should be. I own Beretta’s in 22, 32, 380 and 9mm. But then I’ve always been a all metal, hammer fired fan. Out of all the handguns I own only 2 are polymer. One for carrying and one to loan out to friends and students.

It's a bad sign that I'm shopping holsters for this gun since I don't own it yet.
I'll have one in my safe within the month, I'm almost certain. I am really looking forward to shooting it with live ammunition.
Even Carter's Country that is notoriously over-priced, has it for the same price as Academy... so I may get it there as I do appreciate their ability to support you after the purchase.

I wager this option, get the 92X compact RDO. You can then use the larger mags but also have a smaller profile for carry and if you ever decide to venture down the road of optics you have the option! It’s the best of both worlds I’d say! To me the 92X is better than the old school 92’s. You have better ergonomics, better construction and have the option of the changing out your sights easily.

Ah... good thinking! Harder to find a compact around vs the full size, but now I'm gonna look harder.cmgee67 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 4:26 pm I wager this option, get the 92X compact RDO. I have found a few online for about the price you’re looking at. Gun broker to be specific

I have the 92x compact which is my favorite shooter. I have the one without the rail. Great gun and fun to shoot. Bought two holsters from Tucker Gun Leather for it. I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am confident I’ll have one soon… the question is the definition of the word, “soon”.
Will post pics when I do.

If you can afford it without violating any Dave Ramsey tenets then go for it.
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

Anyone have thoughts on a red dot? I've never had a gun with one, but the 92X being RDO ready has me pondering...
