Bers Thunder 9 Full Size Laser Sight?

#1

Post by tytl »

Hey folks,
Curious if anyone has a Bersa Thunder 9 with a laser sight? Looking for recommendations. Seems like lasermax or crimsongrips does not make any for the Bersa company guns.
thanks,
tytl

I had a BT9/UC until recently, and I had the CAT Laser for it. The CAT Laser is also made in Argentina specifically for the BT pistols.. The CAT is not expensive (compared to CT/LaserMAX) as I think it retails for around $129.00. I believe the same model fits both the Ultra Compacts and the standard models.

The CAT as designed fits on the rail of the BT's and works just fine..

I had 2 issues with the CAT.. The CAT is activated by a small lever on either side, and just in front of the trigger guard. Sometimes the lever didn't work right, but then you could push down or pull up the opposite lever and it would be just fine. The second thing I wasn't crazy about regarding the CAT was the batteries used. I forget the model numbers, but they are the basic small "fat" batteries available almost anyplace, and aren't too expensive, but the battery "life" for me was simply no where as good as the "thin" batteries in the Crimson Trace Lasergrips on my Sig P239, or J-frame S&W 638. Plus the CAT requires 3 batteries, and the CT's only one.

I loved the Bersa Thunder 9/Ultra Compact. It was very accurate and 100% reliable. The only reason I sold it was because I've recently come down with "Seecamp fever" and wanted another Seecamp and had to sell "something" to buy another Seecamp. I already had a Walther P99c/AS, P99/AS, Sig P239 and several other nines, so as much as I hated to part with the Bersa I let it go.

I would recommend the CAT Laser as long as you understand it's issues. There is also a holster made by "Avenger" of Argentina specifically for the Bersa's with the CAT Lasers attached. Oh yeah, I think the CAT comes with a lifetime warranty to the original owner.. Not sure tho..

My CAT laser was an early model I think, and perhaps the newer ones don't have the issues mine had.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,
