Which Glock to buy?
Okay, after all these years, I've finally decided to break down and buy a Glock. I'm a 9mm guy, and am trying to decide whether to buy a Gen 5 Glock 17 or a Glock 19x. Both have interchangeable backstraps which is one of the features I'm wanting. I want a full-size frame, so I don't want a Glock 19. I have other, more concealable pistols, so that isn't a concern. Why should I buy one versus the other?
*Yes, I know there is a shortage of firearms right now. Hopefully that will change and stock will be back available in the near future*

Buy the S&W M&P(not a Glock!)
Had interchangeable back straps as well
Comes in sub-compact, compact, 4.25” and 5”

If I wanted a range weapon I would go with the 17 to get the extra barrel length. I know it is only .40 inches but it seems to make a diference for me. I have a 17 and a 19 but not the 19x.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 11:30 am Okay, after all these years, I've finally decided to break down and buy a Glock. If I was making that choice (and I'm not!) it would be the 17. If you are going to buy a pistol with no plan to conceal it, the extra length in barrel/sight radius and weight should make it a better shooting gun than the 19X
Re: Which Glock to buy?
Regular G19. You can always get some Glock 17 magazines as back up.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
19X Barrel 4.02 inch long
17 Barrel 4.49 inch
34 Barrel 5.31 inch
17L Barrel 6.02 inch
all 4 have the same grip and magazine cap. only diff is barrel length
17L is the hardest to fine found one on gunbroker

I have only seen pictures of the 17L but it looks weird to me. Maybe because I am not accustomed to seeing a Glock with such a long barrel. I am sure it is more accurate for the range.

Get a Glock 7 and don't tell anyone, they'll never believe you... until you sell it for a TON of money ... should be really valuable now

Re: Which Glock to buy?
I'd go with a Glock 45 MOS for a general shooter and then slap a microdot on it. 19 slide on a 17 frame, similar to a commander sized 1911.
The G45 takes 17 mags also, not 19X specific mags.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
Doesn't the 19X use those weird mag floors due to the front flap on the gun? So you cannot interchange magazines without doing floor plate exchanges.K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 11:30 am Okay, after all these years, I've finally decided to break down and buy a Glock. Yes, 19X uses special mags. One of the reasons I'd go with the G45 instead of the 19X.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
If you really must buy a Glock (and there is nothing wrong with that, I have a couple), I strongly recommend a Glock 18. They are a little hard to find, a lot more expensive than most other Glocks, and fairly expensive to feed, but they can be a lot of fun to shoot.
