Another one bites the dust!
Legal gun owners are really taking a bite out of crime lately and doing a better job of it than the Courts by taking them off the street for good!

I haven't been tracking the exact numbers, but "castle doctrine" does seem to be working so far. Home and business owners have been able to defend themselves and their properties without adverse legal consequences.

...had been burglarized four times this month, Sgt. Lewis said.

A "watch bird"... hadn't heard of one of those before... but situational awareness is key ... so whatever worksThe homeowner told police that his bird says “hello whenever he sees someone. Police said the bird must have seen Mr. Woodson pass by a window. The bird’s greeting awakened the homeowner, who approached Mr. Woodson in the detached garage and shot him with a handgun, police said.

With the incidents listed in the article that's 3 burglars dead and 2 wounded in the Dallas area since Sept 1Dallas police recorded more than 14,400 residential burglaries last year.
Anybody want to bet there are fewer burglaries next year?

The "castle doctrine" doesn't have anything to do with the recent events, we had the right to protect our family and home before 9/1/07.Paladin wrote:I haven't been tracking the exact numbers, but "castle doctrine" does seem to be working so far. One of my Uncle's lived in the country and had 'watch geese'. They were better than his dogs. They would honk and squawk anytime someone started coming down the ling driveway. Made an awful racket!!Paladin wrote: A "watch bird"... hadn't heard of one of those before... but situational awareness is key ... so whatever works![]()

Actually it does. It affords lawsuit protection and does make some notable changes to the use of deadly force (inside and outside the home).PAR wrote:The "castle doctrine" doesn't have anything to do with the recent events, we had the right to protect our family and home before 9/1/07.Paladin wrote:I haven't been tracking the exact numbers, but "castle doctrine" does seem to be working so far. This one and the business owner have nothing to do with Castle Doctrine. They were uses of feadly force to prevent the imminent commision of a Burglary, which has ALWAYS been legal.Paladin wrote:I haven't been tracking the exact numbers, but "castle doctrine" does seem to be working so far. I suppose it is possible that the increased media attention regarding the Castle Doctrine (which the media never got right) has made more people aware...........

Everybody who has lived in Texas long enough knows it's legal to shoot a burglar. It happens about once a week state-wide.txinvestigator wrote:This one and the business owner have nothing to do with Castle Doctrine. The real problem is some people think it's legal to shoot trespassers on land.

It clearly does not. These cases are too recent to even get to the "lawsuit" issue yet, and neither has been presented to the Grand Jury.Paladin wrote:Actually it does. Even so, the changes to the deadly force statutes were Protection of Persons. No changes wre made to protection of property, which is what these uses were.

So you say that it doesn't affect lawsuits? Doesn't affect Force/DF inside and outside the home?txinvestigator wrote:It clearly does not.
