What do you like to carry when or if you do carry a wheel gun?

For EDC I've added an LCR in 9mm to my carry as a BUG. If I'm traipsing through the woods I carry a 686.

I’ve shot the 9mm LCR. It’s a snappy little booger

I love it. It sees more handloads than anything. I want to try running some trailboss through it just for fun.

When my wife replaced her Ruger LCR .38 w/Crimson Trace with a Walther PPS M2 LE, I inherited the revolver. I use it as a backup for my openly carried S&W M&P M2.0 9mm 5inch. I carry the LCR in a Remora RFT in my left cargo pocket.

I run trail boss loads quite a bit in my 629. They are a ton of fun for plinking.

I belt carry a 3" da/sa SP-101 .357 mag six days per week, and a j-frame in the cowboy boot anytime the cowboy boots are on. Sunday mornings are most often seen with a "bottom feeder" IWB for church, but the j-frame is still in the boot. So, I suppose you could say I always have a wheel gun in my presence whenever I'm vertical.

I have a blued 4 inch barreled Ruger Police Service Six in .38 Special wearing Pachmayr grips. It rides in a OWB holster from Simply Rugged Holsters, on a gunbelt, and with a speed strip pouch, by the same manufacturer. I carry Federal .38 Special +P LSWCHP "FBI Loads". That's my "local" carry rig, for when I'm not going to the big city. That revolver fits my hand well, and I feel confident in the use of it.

I normally carry at least one from my SP101 collection. At the office I usually carry two.

As mentioned in another thread, I'm carrying and competing with nothing but wheel guns this year.

I've carried all of these at one point or another this year.

The easiest to carry is of course the J frame. But my favorite to carry so far has been the 586 L Comp. (picture from dry fire practice)

It's the same basic weight as a 4" heavy barrel Model 10, but holds 7 rounds, takes moon clips, and has better sights. I really enjoy it.

I think the ideal carry revolver would be a lightweight 6 shot K frame, 3" barrel, adjustable sights that takes moon clips. That would be a fantastic shooting/carrying compromise gun.

I don't carry it anymore- however, the best CC revolver I EVER carried was a Taurus 651 titanium. (w/ a zero profile hammer) Not a high $$ gun but is surprisingly nice to shoot and after a few hundred rounds the trigger smoothed out to near glass fine. So light and so discreet I will never let it go as there is a place for this in my later years, I'm sure.

And when I "retired it" I also put a couple holsters away with it so that I will have them if and when I transition back to it.

(I grabbed the pic online- mine shows years of honest carry and use)

I think wheel guns with a full sized grip point the best at least for me. Typically I carry a “bottom feeder” but I have always loved revolvers. Once you get proficient with speed strips or speed loaders you really don’t have any disadvantages as far as capacity goes. I found I can carry speed strips a lot easier than a spare magazine.

Speed strips and jumbo shrimp.

Both pretty funny names.

It’s faster than loose rounds in a pocket, but I really prefer speedloaders or moonclips for a revolver reload.

When capacity is lower, speed may be more important than with a semi auto, so I prefer faster reloads.
