Hey guys

So question regards to private sales (buying and selling). What are your recommendations for a safe transaction in both regards. Do you guys have rules you follow best places to meet etc.

Any information appreciated

I know my city offers the use of the police station to conduct private sales, including firearms.

A very public place. Like a police station parking lot. A buddy as backup and trust your gut. That goes for selling a gun, car, motorcycle, or just about anything.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

The police dept in my city offered the use of the lobby, not just the parking lot. This is not limited to firearm sales. Any legal FTF transaction can be conducted there.

There's other threads on the topic, but peronally I'd be sure to fill out 2 bills of sale. one for the buyer one for the seller. just in case.

I always use an open location, broad daylight, with a lot of people nearby but not on top of us. Usually a Walmart parking lot or similar. And as said before trust your gut. I have flat out said no and drove off when the situation didn't feel safe or the other party was questionable (like not having ID of any kind). The other easy way is to do business on forums like this. While not a perfect safety net, all the guys on here have been people I would have trusted to go shooting with after the buy or trade

I traded some guns in a Walmart parking lot with a member on here. Very smooth, painless, and confortable. We both had LTC’s so nothing to worry about. I brought a friend with me just in case. Police Station is a great bet as well. Be careful regardless!

I meet at my local gun store. This adds security to both of us, puts us both on camera, and potentially introduces a new customer to a new LGS. Best of both worlds.
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

For non-gun sales, I’ve met in the lobby of my bank. I can carry legally, there are cameras everywhere, and I can have the cash checked and deposited right there. I’ve found that if someone isn’t interested in meeting me there, they’re likely not someone I’d want to sell to anyway. Also, when I suggest it, they buyer is comfortable with me as the seller.

I’ve done this when selling things like iPhones or other higher priced, smaller items.

My local police has set up a video monitored parking location that I plan on using for any future sales or purchases.

Same here.

"Let's meet up at the police station, where they have video surveillance" is a great deterrent for criminals. Not guaranteed though.

same here, they even have a block of parking spaces reserved for it, with signage and all. And a few cameras covering the area.
