"Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."
-- Marion Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe."
-- Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Associated Press, Nov. 18, 1993

"The only thing a rifle scope is good for is assassination."
--U.S. Senator Ira Metzenbaum, Democrat

I don't want to go for confiscation, but that is where we are going.
-- Daryl Gates, Police Chief of Los Angeles, California

"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them: "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in," I would have done it. I *could not* do that. The votes weren't here."
--U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), CBS-TV's "60 Minutes," 2/5/95

I see no humor in these statements from elected government officials.

This one scares the hell out of me:

"Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe."
-- Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Associated Press, Nov. 18, 1993

It seems like, on many subjects, liberals want to re-define what my rights are. The above statement ought to be "guns address a fundamental right of all Americans.".
