DFW West/SW Quadrant Tactical Handgun Training

#1

Post by Bitter Clinger »

At our breakfast at Rudy's this past Saturday we discussed trying to get together for some advanced training - once the weather cools off a bit. This global warming is really terrible :biggrinjester:

I contacted Phil Ryan at TCCI; https://txconcealedcarry.com/ and he is available to instruct a group of us CHL's on either Saturday the 9th of September or Saturday the 23rd. Training will likely take place in Prosper. More details on cost and hours to follow but typically class size will be limited and depending on the skill level of participants we would likely progress from drawing from the holster through tactical reloads and malfunction clearing to stop shots, multiple target engagement, shooting from cover & concealment, moving & shooting, etc. :fire :fire :fire

Phil's classes do not involve a lot of standing around waiting and if the students exhibit good technique and safety awareness (muzzle and trigger finger control) then exercises progress from basic to advanced reasonably rapidly and round counts can be fairly high.

bblhd672 has trained with Phil and if memory serves, Beiruty took his CHL from Phil, and I can endorse him as a safety first instructor with excellent command of the range and an uncanny ability to diagnose exactly what students need to focus on individually.

The purpose of this poll is strictly to gauge if interest was truly serious and establish which of the two dates would attract the most participation.

The poll only allows for one response, I chose the later date, but Yes I am interested, and Yes, I will attend.

Very interested. The later date would be much better as I may be out of town on the first one.

Let's go Brandon.

Not really an option for me on the poll, but my answer is "I would be interested IF I am physically able by then to do something like this." As of right now, the status of my ankle/foot is still up in the air, so I don't really know yet if I'd be able to attend.

I prefer advanced pistol courses or at least Level-2.

I don't disagree, but I also find that I always benefit from reviewing basic fundamentals, such as 4 step draw.

Depending on the overall experience and safety awareness of this first class, we stand the possibility to advance quickly, or not. :cheers2:

Either way, it will be a fun learning experience!
