Ask Tex Grebner about this holster.

He managed to get 1911-leg with his...

His self shooting is available to be seen on youtube. (he cusses up a storm right after blasting himself)

It's both horrifying and oddly humorous with his comments like "then my training kicked...I called my Mother."

I would not modify a Serpa or any other holster if I thought it had safety issues - I would toss it in the trash and buy something better.

I disagree. I had a Serpa for years and never shot myself or had a ND. When I joined the 1911 club, I sold a G27 to thin the herd a bit. The guy I sold it to wanted the Serpa so I threw it in for an extra $10. I like the leather holster I have now, it's much more attractive too.

I don't know anything about the Serpa and have never owned one.

As a youth drove like a mad man on slick tires and sometimes almost no brakes. Have never killed myself or anyone else. Never got into accidents. I sometimes work on live power sockets. I haven't been electrocuted. Yet ....

Just saying, The fact that you haven't had bad results doesn't mean you aren't tempting fate. It just means that you haven't had your first incident yet.

I did the above fix as not to slow me while drawing up. My grip was pulling up faster than my finger touching the tab.
Now serpa was banned at DPC, so I ordered this one:

I cant tell if thats a holster or a gas pedal.
Does it work good?

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are.

You got off light - I would have charged you far more than $10 to take it from you.

It is an excellent speed holster, sturdy and fully customizable to your pistol and your style of draw. I took my time to experiment with what it can do. Once done, the only thing I needed to do, to get it function flawlessly, is to spray some dry lube on the lock and unlock feature so it works smoothly. It was as if you were diging out a dead body.

So, if you don't recommend a Serpa - What do you recommend for a retention holster for OC?

Yup. Hard to go wrong with any Safariland duty-style holsters. I just bought my 3rd.
