Joining the CZ Club

So, after months of deliberation, I finally decided to become a CZ owner. I ordered a P-01 Omega through their military discount program. I'm really excited. Its being shipped straight to Cajun Gun Works. Now I just have to decide what all I am going to have CGW do to it! Any suggestions?

Welcome new CZ owner. I have two of these beauties. Great guns out of the box, but CGW can certainly improve, tune and smooth then.

My suggestion is to call CGW and speak with David. He will have recommendations on how you plan to use it (daily carry, home defense, competitive shooting, etc). But be prepared for a long wait before you get it back. I have a CZ 97-BD that's been in their hands, sitting in the process line for a Pro-package install since late January. That's how popular CGW is - they have a big backlog.

In addition to the 97-BD (.45 ACP) I also have CZ 85 Combat in 9mm. Both are possibly among the best feeling and nicest shooting handguns that I have, not to cast any dispersions on my Sig 1911.

In the photo below, with the 85 Combat, the first 5 rounds on were the right side, with the first pull as DA, the next 4 SA. Next 10 rounds on the left side, same sequence.

CZs are better out of the box than many tuned guns. CGW may have some suggestions, but the most common upgrades are triggers and sights. CZ triggers are already great, compared to a Glock, but some improvement is nice. The stock sights are not great, so I have often upgraded those.

I have not used CGW, but by all accounts, they do great work. Of course, they have a great platform to work with.

I only have CZ 75 variants so not sure if this also applies to the model you are getting.

The stock CZ trigger is nice, but the reset was way too long for me, resulting in a bit of a "slap" when trying to rapidly dump a mag. I had the CGW Pro package installed in my CZ 75 BD which solved this issue completely, and just generally made a good gun into an amazing gun.

I've had my CZ P01 for many years and since have shot a handful of other guns. I still like the CZ trigger best even with the DA/SA it is better than my M&P 9. It carries well too. I've thought of night sights as my only upgrade but haven't done it yet even with doing occasional low light shooting.

I bought a CZ75 BD when I got back into law enforcement but was unable to find a Class II or III retention holster for it...so sold it for a Glock 23.
Miss that weapon (the CZ), was probably the most accurate out of the box weapon I've EVER fired.
Might see if I can find me another one for a decent price.
First weapon I bought (back in ohhhh about '73) was at the Rod & Gun Club in Germany....a Browning High-Power for $175 (in the nice wooden box). Sold it later for the final part of the down payment on my new Harley.

I love CZ handguns and have had a variety of them in the past, a few custom. I currently only have one which is my FDE P-07. I carry it in High Noon holsters and they keep the P07 tucked nice and tight to my body. The Snapper holster is my favorite because it's easy to take on and off if needed (without removing my belt) but at times I needed a holster with a retention strap.

I'll second High Noon Holsters for my CZ P01. I have both IWB and OWB which retain nicely and draw well. They're wearing well too.

I got an email this morning from CZ saying that my pistol had shipped, and one at lunch from David at CGW saying that it had arrived! Now I just have to figure out exactly what I want them to do. Any thoughts?

Tell them what your going to do with it..plink, carry, competition, ect... Then ask what they suggest ...after they tell you, say YES PLEASE and give them your CC number....

Hey guys,over the past 6 months I went from never even shot a CZ to now owning 5 with another on the way. Truly fantastic guns! Have the P-07, P-09, CZ 75D Compac, SP-01 Phantom (just got but will probably sell?), P-10C ordered, and my newest and best the CZ 75 Shadow 2 (WOW!) I thought nothing could touch my 1911's but the Shadow 2 is in a class all by itself!

Welcome to the Forum. That's a nice CZ collection you have going. Why are you considering selling the Phantom? They are just coming out in the U.S. market again and I'm sure they will sell well. I'm thinking of getting one, if I'm not happy with my new carry gun. (A 1911 Government Model with Deltapoint Pro milled into the slide.) I really like my Compact PCR, but I'm used to carrying a Government model 1911 so I'd like a longer barrel/slide.

Hey Charles, thank you sir! Appreciate that. About the Phantom, I can't say anything bad about it at all. It's got a really nice trigger setup, original owner had replaced all the internals with CGW parts, and shoots great. But since I have the P-07 and P-09 polymer guns and shoot them so well, just thinking I'd rather have an all-steel midsize CZ instead. I'm curious about the P10 if/when it arrives, to see how it stacks up vs my Glock 19.
I'll shoot the Phantom a little more before I decide to sell/trade.
