What Handgun to Add to this Collection?

#1

Post by Right-Wing-Nut »

- must be an auto not interested in a wheelgun
- must be in the $400-$650 price range

I will be buying a new one this weekend at the FW show.

Current Line-up:
Glock 26 9mm (carry gun)
Glock 19 9mm
HK P2000 9mm
Glock 23 40S&W
Sig Sauer 229 40S&W

Considering: Glock 21SF .45, HKP2000 SK 40 or 357sig, other suggestions?

1911 in 45 ACP.

Read a nice quote the other day on THR:

"9mm may expand but 45ACP does not shrink".

You bet. Everyone needs a 1911 at some point. Might as well get something different.....

I agree with the 1911, everybody needs at least 1. However, if it were to be another polymer frame, I've got to put in a vote for a Springfield XD45 5' (or "Tactical", if you must  ). I've got several XD's but my XD45 5" is my favorite and my daily CCW.

I also carry the XD .45 acp five incher daily BUT I also have added a new Taurus 1911 to my 1911 collection and it shoots great!!!! Less than 500 bux out the door. If you do not own a 1911 I would suggest the new PT1911 from Taurus.  :fire :fire

You need a Springfield XD of some sort in there!

My daily carry is the XD9 4" Service model.
Springfield XD(m) 9mm 3.8 | Springfield XD-45 Compact | Springfield XD-9 Service
Kimber Pro CDP II .45 ACP | Kimber Pro Aegis II 9mm w/Crimson Trace | Walther PPS 9mm
Bushmaster AR-15 w/Magpul pistol grip and foregrip, Bushnell holosight

I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

We have the same carry/collection except I don't have an HK P2000 9MM.
I have to agree w/ the recommendations on the 1911 45 ACP. For the budget allocated I would go w/ the RIA MilSpec or Tactical. The MilSpec( unless prices have gone up already) are under $400.00 OTD at gun shows. I have seen some for $359.00-$389.00..The RIA Tactical is under $500.00 ( $475-$489).. That is just me and my humble opinion. I got both and I here are some pics. None of these models come in chrome , they came parkerized. The hardchrome and grips on mine are after market..

Good Luck!

To me, you are obviously missing the Glock 21! It is by far my favorite gun to shoot (and I have a 1911).

5111 has it right about Glock 21s, but I really like 1911s too.
Either one would be a good pick.

1911s really aren't me- although I appreciate them. I used to own a Para Ordinance high-cap (14) model and it was a nice weapon. I am thinking a 45 or some sort and I usually stick to HK, Glock or Sigs.

HK45 or USP45
Sig 220
Glock 21, 21SF or even a 36

Try a CZ. They come in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP flavors. While I've never shot one, the CZ 97s seem to be solid pistols. The CZ 75s are excellent.
