Remember that if this is what your depending your life on, you either better test the ever loving crap out of it or leave it stock . . . or carry a larger capacity gun? ;)
My first thought was price point... S & W is costing out by the penny, for mass production.

Lots of big name manufacturers have had mag issues from time to time and some others farm out mag production. THere is no reason to think Magguts is a flawed idea- it's more liekly that the aftermarket cost is one that some people will be ok with but the gun priced higher may have hurt overall sales.

Unfortunately, not everyone works in an environment where they can get away with or can comfortably conceal a full sized double stack.

So far mine has worked flawless. I have about 200 rounds down range so far.

I've been using the Magguts springs for over a year with no problems at all. I carry the larger mag giving me 10 total rounds (9+1).
Even though I have not experienced any issues with the stock springs, I feel better with the upgraded Magguts setup. Regarding the sentiment that "stock is better", take a look at this thread. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wess ... pring.html
There are many more threads just like this. As with any carry setup, you have to do what you feel is best for you.

I have not seen any post so far of anyone having trouble with the Magguts. I am sure there has been someone who has had a negative experience, but overall they look they work. They have worked well for me so far.

I do not carry mouse guns much but when I do ...
Have you had any problems with your BG's magazine falling out when shooting? I've had to return mine to S&W twice (this time they have had the gun for 7 weeks).

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I will order 1 and give it a try. Looking at the S&W forum links I found a link to what seems to be a decent mag supplier. Right now they have the M&P Shield 9mm 8 round mags on sale for $18.99. Shipping is reasonable, $4.99 if less than 1 lb.

Leave it stock or mod it?

Well, when it comes to cars, I mod it. Does it make it any less dependable? No. Does it increase wear? Yea, probably. But . . . car manufacturers are producting 500-600-700 HP cars now . . . with potential for MORE HP with modifications. I think they strike a balance between most efficient and reliable, which leaves that "room to grow".

Mod something my life depends on? Now it's not so clear. I want 100% reliability if I'm needing it to work. Now with that said, I've modded my M&Ps with Apex DCAEK triggers. Doesn't fundamentally alter the functionality.

Maybe mag springs are designed for the most efficient, long term usage, but you could get "more" with some mods? I can see both sides, but on this one, I gotta favor the reliability.

Mine are working fantastic. Several range trips up about 500 rounds in the S&W and about 300 rounds through the Glock 43.

I have them for my Shield 9mm my Glock 43 and they all seem to work just perfectly, although when I was putting them into the mags I thought the springs were not tight enough and I thought that the base plates were flimsy and would fall out, but I haven't had a single issue
