Right with ya. I've pretty much been a Comp-Tac guy for IWB for almost a decade. IWB, I most often carry a 1911, but sometimes an XD(M); use the MTAC holster for both. I also use their all-Kydex belt holsters for IDPA.Jusme wrote:My particular Blade Tech had two plastic loops mounted on it, that did spread out the weight distribution, but they were rigid and caused the pistol to stand further away from my body. Just a personal preference, I like my DeSantis, leather holster, it holds my pistol high and tight. My kydex is fine but, I only use it occasionally usually when drawing and firing, at a range I very seldom wear it when carrying in public.
But for OWB concealed carry, my preference has always been a leather pancake-style holster. The design pulls the holster and gun into your body as flat as, well, as flat as a pancake. And the leather affords a little flex as your body bends. You just can't beat the comfort.
I prefer the Kydex-leather hybrids for IWB because the Kydex shell keeps the amount of tension on the gun consistent, unlike all-leather where the tension varies based on how tight the belt is torqued. Also far easier to reholster. I have a nice Milt Sparks all-leather IWB for the 1911 that I've worn a few times, but it's been relegated to the holster drawer since around 2007.
