Latest addition to my collection

#1

Post by Flightmare »

I've had the Sig P938 and Sig P238 for awhile. I felt it was finally time to step up and get a REAL 1911. So I went to Academy earlier and picked up the Ruger SR1911. Can't wait to get it on the range and try it out.

Nice choice! Husband picked one up second hand about a year ago and it is a solid gun. It's our first experiment into three 1911 world and we really enjoy it alot. We'ver named it "Thumper" because sometimes we forget what a 45 feels like :smilelol5:

Did you get the all stainless or the lightweight version? I don't know if Academy carries both, I've only ever seen the lightweight, aluminum frame version.

You should stayed with SIG and picked up SIG 1911 STX from custom shop.

That is super pretty. I like all the two tone accents. Nice.

You will like it. I have only tried Ruger mags in mine and the best prices I found for mags was on Ebay. This was my first 1911 and I really enjoy shooting it. Bought a DeSantis mini scabbard.

I actually considered getting the Sig 1911. But I didn't own a Ruger, and this was an excuse to get one. Additionally, in looking around for some of the reviews...even the people on the S&W forum were saying that the Ruger was an excellent gun for a first 1911. Besides, who said this would be my ONLY 1911? :fire

Those are fine pistols straight out of the box. Very nice!

Some people have been known to buy them to use as a base for a custom handgun, either by their own hand or sending it to a gunsmith. I have seen pictures of some beautiful custom 1911s that began life as a stainless Ruger.

A friend of mine bought one, his first 1911. He asked me about mags, so I showed him one of my Tripp Research mags with the steel skirted polymer follower. He bought a couple and instantly became a magazine snob! He now owns more of them that I do.

Wow. I have been looking at 1911s for a while. Good to see something in the form of a solid recommendation here. Always liked Ruger
