Ruger 1911 Commander .45 Problem

Now we're going to have to get together sometime just to compare it with my Guardian.

I can tell you from personal experience that if you do have a problem, they WILL make it right.

Part of my trade for the Valkyrie was an STI Ranger II, which was a very fine gun but had the steel frame, which was just too heavy for EDC.

My Dan Wesson Valkyrie Commander arrived yesterday and I've put 300 rounds of ball and hollowpoint ammo through it with magazines from Dan Wesson, Tripp Research, and Wilson Combat with zero malfunctions.

The gun is extremely tightly fitted and the manual cautions not to use it for carry or competition until 300 - 500 rounds have been fired to allow the mating surfaces to seat against each other. During that time some slow slide movement and failures to go into battery can be expected. However, I didn't encounter any, which is quite a pleasantly different experience than I had with the Ruger 1911.

This gun is a winner and is now my primary EDC.

LOL. I just have to make due with my Ruger full size 1911 until I get mine I guess. While I am sorry your Ruger was bad, twice, my full size has had no issues. It will be replaced as an EDC by a Guardian or V-Bob. Soon I hope.

There is no comparison between any of the Rugers and the Dan Wessons, as you would expect in view of the huge price difference between them.

You're in for a treat if you go for any of the models you listed.

I am having much trouble saying no to a slightly used Guardian right now, and at $1200 it isn't easy. I am leaning more towards the Guardian due to the reduced weight making it far easier to EDC. Being cheaper is also nice.

That's a good price. Mine is a bit more than "slightly" used, but I wouldn't sell it for that price.

Just make sure it's the caliber you want. They're available in .45, 9mm, & .38 Super.

That's a good price. I would have bought that model but the bobbed mainspring housing doesn't feel right to me and limits the number of grips that will fit it.

If you like the bobbed design, I'd jump on that if I were you.
