Re: I Need a New EDC
Thanks TAM. Nice for the range, but my issue would be for racking to clear a malfunction in a time of need. That said I think I'll pick one up for some of my other pistols for range use. Save my hand from pain.
Re: I Need a New EDC
I was set to recommend the pm9 but they aren't the easiest thing to rack especially when new. If you're able to rack one I highly reccome done kahrs for pocket carry

Re: I Need a New EDC
I recommend the 9mm Shield and use the 7 rd mag for pocket carry. You may also want it with the safety if you pocket carry.
I have carried it for 2 yrs and sometimes I slip it into my pocket if I don't want to use a IWB holster.

The perfect EDC as far as I'm concerned.Lynyrd wrote:I like the Ruger LC9S. Mine has been very reliable.

My wife liked my LC9S so much she put her shield in the safe.......I had to get myself another LC9S.tiger1279 wrote:The perfect EDC as far as I'm concerned.Lynyrd wrote:I like the Ruger LC9S. Mine has been very reliable.
It slides in and out of her purse smoother than the blocky Shield. I'm not sure how you could pocket carry a glock or shield, they have too many square corners.

Re: I Need a New EDC
I was interested in the Shield when they first came out. That is until I picked one up! That's one heavy pocket pistol! I've also owned a PM9 before, and while it was a nicely configured gun, for some reason (most likely me) I was a lousy shot with it. As for square corners, my P238 SAS had the "carry melt" treatment from the factory. No square corners at all, but I carried in on my hip, not in a pocket like I have to now.

I second this recommendation. I have carried a Shield for about two years.flowrie wrote:I recommend the 9mm Shield and use the 7 rd mag for pocket carry. You may also want it with the safety if you pocket carry.

I shot a Glock 43 this past weekend. Recoil is snappier compared to the shield.

Re: I Need a New EDC
While you don't want to carry a wheel, what you are describing the LCR would be perfect. Recoil tamed by the grip and no feed problems to fix.I carry wheels because of my wrists. My wrists tend not to work correctly at the most inconvenient of times. I am able to shoot and reload without any difficulty. Sometimes we do what we have to do.

Re: I Need a New EDC
Someone suggested suspenders, I think this is an option to consider. It's worth a try.

Really I'd say look at the lc9s as others mentioned, I've heard it's much better than the lc9 was
If that's not your cup of tea then the Glock 42 pocket carries well, but to me the shield and g43 are just too large for pocket carry without some big pockets
Re: I Need a New EDC
The reason for the easier slide travel on the sig p238 is the locked breech design. It does not need the heavy recoil spring of a blowback.

I cannot say the same. I bought mine in November, struggled running a box through it and had to send in for repairs. Got it back, wasn't able to go out until a couple weeks ago. Cant get it to chamber HP's. It's back at Ruger again. Not happy. Not trusted. Demanding a full replacement on it. My buddy just bought his wife a new one and is experiencing the same issues as mine. I suggest you read the Ruger forums and make your own decision wisely. For what it's worth, I own 6 handguns and this one I really like for concealment and really want to carry it but just not looking like it.
Re: I Need a New EDC
Have you ruled out a pocket DAO revolver? I'd recommend a ruger LCR in 357 or even 9mm. It solves the weight issue as well as the condition 1 issue. They make pocket sleeves/holsters if you don't want to just have it loose in you pocket.
Another option is to care a messenger bag (or man purse). In the heat of the summer I rely on my messenger bag with a Kahr P9, extra clip, and pocket knife... Also carries an iPad mini. I can take pics if you are interested.

This is exactly what I do. I wear suspenders and keep my belt a little loose. It's comfortable and doesn't put pressure on my stomach.Pawpaw wrote: Have you considered adding suspenders and wearing your gun belt a bit looser? If it works, it would be a lot cheaper than buying a new pistol.
Re: I Need a New EDC
I might have missed your reason for not wanting the 938 after liking the 238. I have both in the SAS style. They both use the same Sig pocket holster and the holster covers the safety in the same manner. The 938 is noticeably heavier than the 238. It is a bit harder to operate the slide at first but after it is broken in I don't really notice a Significant difference between the two.
I also have the M&P shield. I have not fired as much as the Sig but my feeling is that it is ok but being very much lighter (polymer frame) the recoil is somewhat more noticeable. It is also considerably less pricey than the 938.
The two are close enough in size to not really matter. They both fit in a pocket, but honestly neither is as comfortable in the pocket as the 238. That could be however a personal thing since I pocket carried the 238 for quite a while before getting the 9's and I got used to the feel. If I weren't on the road I would be happy to let you try them all at the range.
