Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
Whatever level of retention you choose for your OC holster, practice, practice, practice. I practiced with mine so much I was able to draw and aim at a scumbag before he could get his firearm half way out of his waistband.
Another drill I would run at the range was to be able to draw, aim, and fire one round on target (about 5ft to target) in 1.5-2 seconds.

Does that one use the index finger to disengage the retention mechanism?tbryanh wrote:Looks like The Prowler might work.http://www.desantisholster.com/THE-PROWLERtbryanh wrote:Which one(s) work for iwb at the 4 o'clock position?
Not a fan of the trigger finger having more than one job, like Serpas. That's how negligent discharges happen under stress.
Keep calm and carry.

Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
This list is great but I can't really find what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for a retention holster for my SigP226 that will be a little more subtle in presentation on the belt. I want that "undercover detective revolver" look but using retention and a full sized Sig.
I'm guessing leather but really I'm starting to think that such a thing does not exist. Everything is geared towards a Sig P229.
Are there retention holsters geared towards full sized frames that won't make me look like I'm trying to be "high speed"?
I've looked online till my eyes are blurry...

Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
I'd also like to find a leather, OWB holster w. a retention solution *other* than a thumb break/strap; but haven't had any luck, either.
Wound up ordering a Desantis Facilitator yesterday; I really like the location of the thumb release between the holster/gun and your body. Thanks for compiling this list, Excaliber!

Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
I saw that one, but the release mechanism is pretty easily discernible by a potential gun grabber. I opted to compromise on the leather vs. plastic to get the more concealed release design on the Desantis.mojo84 wrote:olafpfj wrote:This list is great but I can't really find what I'm looking for.

New to me Level 1 and 2 holsters

(Ran across while trying to find level 2 or 3 Retention for Taurus 85 Ultralite small frame revolver<<< Still looking as CQC from Serpa blackhawk doesn't fit it right due to lug under barrel, Taurus made several "85 models")

Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
I'm another Safariland user. Love the ease of the paddle and usability with whatever I'm wearing. For my Glock 19 it's perfect. Don't plan on OC, but glad this holster fits the bill for both! It is lined and helps with wear and the thumb release is perfect for retention.

Re: Retention Holsters for Concealed or Open Carry
Will retention holsters be required for concealed carry?
God Bless America, and please hurry.
