I plan to take the Forum down tonight around 5:00PM to install a software update/upgrade. This is a major upgrade, so it will take a while and it may create bugs. Note I said I "plan" to do it today, but I have to get several things done before I can start that project.

Well, that took a bit longer than I expected. There was a database problem that took a while to fix. For a while, I was worried I'd have to restore the old database and files. That would have put me back to square one. Sorry for the long downtown folks.

I have more work to do with some extensions, the logo, etc., so please respond to this thread if you experience any problems. Many of the extensions we had with the old software don't work with this upgrade. I 'll be looking for others.

Thanks for your hard work Charles. Other than security, software updates/upgrades are the most trying things in the IT world, at least in my humble opinion!

Phew!

I want to publicly thank the folks at https://www.virtbiz.com/ for their help and support. The problem was not of their making, yet they provided support that I suspect was beyond that normally provided on a dedicated server. These folks have been great since the first day we moved the Forum here a three or so years ago.

I also appreciate the volunteer support staff at phpBB.com. The database fix was very easy to do, but finding the problem was almost impossible. No, for me it was impossible!

Thanks for the upgrade Charles! This is a great site--do not know of another one like it where we can discuss Texas law, firearms, self-defense, etc. in a friendly and supportive manner.

are we back? really? there were a couple of times over the past couple of days I thought "oh, I wonder what the guys will think about this...." and I couldn't see y'all....
